Nope. I don't know if my parents will allow it if it's anything like Harry Potter or Twilight. Which is fine, I usually don't read books that are the "big thing." I'm doing good now just to finish the Anne of Green GAbles series, lol.

You know I've always wondered about that book but I never made a mind to read it. I just thought, hey I haven't read it, but like the series of unfortunate events, I'll apreciate that its there :P And even more so becuse its not so long!

and just the other day i was like...haven't they been making a movie for like...3 years or more?!

and went home and checked on the net ( i think) but didnt find any dates (so maybe i didnt really check...all too well?:|) and then the trailer was on tv the next day!

Psychic moments are a bit annoying?...
Like when I have an idea for somethign and the next person has it done. Its...not fun:P
I wish i could have great thoughts and produce them myse- and how irrelevant!

Well, in Inkheart, the two main characters - Meggie, and her father Mo - can make books come literally alive. So it's no wonder that the flying monkeys are involved - a formidable foe, eh? And it's very interesting because the whole premise is that when Meggie was little, Mo accidentally read this book called Inkheart, and he brought three characters - Dustfinger, a firebreather; Capricorn, a terrible ruler; and Basta, Capricorn's most loyal servant - out into our world. However, because when something comes out, something has to go in, Meggie's mum Resa is sucked into the book. The whole premise of Inkheart is that Capricorn wants Mo to be his servant and read anything out of any book so he can be unfathomably rich and such.

what's with the wizard?

The ads makes it look like it's got some Wizard of Oz inspirations...with the flying monkeys. :p Doesn't really look all that interesting but I don't know much about it. Brendan Fraser is awfully busy with action films, isn't he? lol.

I agree -- what's with the cyclone, flying monkeys and Toto?!
Inkheart is a classic in its own right and does not need to fly on the shirt tails of any other fantasy...!

But I will want to see it for sure anyway because I am hooked on the trilogy.

I hope it's good. I heard that Cornelia Funke had a big say in what went in the movie, so she must have approved the whole Wizard of Oz thing. Still...did they really think the movie would be too short or too boring without it? I think being on the run from people who would gladly cut you up, racing around in the dark trying not to get caught by people with guns, sneaking in and out of places, is suspenseful enough.

Of course, if they're trying to create an action movie instead of a suspense movie, then I guess the book didn't have enough action sequences.

i'm looking forward to this movie! i've been working on rereading the book, since i read it so long ago.

i love brendan fraser, glad to see him in it. and paul bettany is amazing, so i'm really looking forward to that.

I'm reading inkdeath right now finally -- I got it for Christmas! :)

But I am really looking forward to this film. Do you think Silvertongue is going to read some Wizard of Oz monkeys into the story? That might be kinda cool.

I usually prefer to read the book before I see the movie, but my mom really wanted to see Inkheart and it was my birthday so it just kind of happened, lol...so.. I have NOT read the book, but I really enjoyed the movie! Dustfinger might be my favourite Paul Bettany role, ever. I felt like he kind of stole the whole show; he was my favourite character. I plan on reading the book ASAP :)

I saw the movie over the weekend. I absolutely loved it!!:D I haven't read the book, but the movie really made me want to...I don't think the movie actually is the book, but I don't know for sure.
But yeah, I loved the movie.:D

eating our way to Inkheart

I'm throwing a surprise birthday party for my son, and taking him and his friends to see Inkheart on Saturday. There's a hamburger restaurant across from the theater with a promotion that if you eat there you can buy a ticket that can be used at any time for $7.50. So we have been eating hamburgers all week to get the movie tix. I am so sick of hamburgers! but seeing the film will be a lot of fun :-)

my thoughts:

Wizard of Oz comes in about 3/4 times but it gives a little reason why.... sort of. They say the book was Meggie's mom's favorite. And it's the only book they have with them when they are running away from people so obviously it's the only one they can read stuff out of.

Paul Bettany defiantly stole the show as Dustfinger. He was amazing, he had the role down perfectly. Everything from his lines to just his facial expressions were brilliant, he made me really care about his character more than I already did from the books. (I honestly wanted to hug him throughout the movie)

See the movie. It was amazing, even if you haven't read the book. The book-to-movie adaptation was perfect right on the spot. You'll enjoy it.

I thought it was a good movie, honestly. I loved Farid the most though.

But I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed now that I know that the book is the same plot as the movie. I did not know there was a book, so when I went to the movies, I thought they had took a book with what's in the fictional book Inkheart, and had the plotline in the movie.

So I guess I'm a little sad that it's just another book made into a movie, and not something different.
