Introduction Thread II

Hey, I'm new(and, just to annoy you) I'm also warriorsatyrs sister. Lets see, well, i'm 13, I lve art, and food(nomnomnom) I'm the middle kid, and I would like to change my name, how do I do tnat? Thats about it!

Welcome, Happy to have you.

Heyy I'm Rachel and I'm kinda new. I joined back in 2006 because my brother joined. I never really got into it. It was more of my brothers thing at the time. And over the years I forgot my usernsme, but I'm rejoining now :).

Welcome back. I joined in 06 too. Never left though. I hope you enjoy it more this go around.

This is more of a reintroduction. I'm not a new member but I've been gone for more than a year.

Hello, everyone! I'm EustaceTheDragon or Claude (if you think my username is too long). I'm an agnostic atheist (which means I don't personally believe in any deities, but I don't claim to know if any deities exist and I don't think it's to prove the existence or non-existence of them), but I absolutely love the Chronicles of Narnia. I don't think about the Christian allegory when I read them, though. Never have. Not even when I was a Christian.

I also think people should be able to believe what they want as long as it's not harmful and that we should respect those beliefs and not try to convert people or attack them because of their beliefs. :)

I'm not a fan of the new Narnia movies (though I've only seen the first movie yet, so I suppose I might like the third one), but I love the BBC version and the books.

So. Yeah. That's me. What else do you need to know? Oh, right, I'm a giant geek and I'm only 15 years old. (Did I tell you too much?)

Welcome back

Hi! It's been a while! I popped in here back in 2010 and was first a member several years before that as WillsGirl, I was mostly a story writer and RPG player back then, but I'm back to test the waters again and hopefully write some more stories!

Welcome back, if we ever ran into each other, you may remember me better as bthew, breethew, Lady Jean, or ~LJ Ava~

Introduction

Hello, everybody. I'm, as my username indicates, SunshineRose. Everyone can feel free to call me Rose, though, if that is easier to remember. I'm new here, and this is my very first post. Yay!

To tell you about myself, I am a college student majoring in English and Secondary Education with a minor in Creative Writing. I hope to become an English teacher and maybe an author one day. Right now, I just work as a camp counselor during the summer and in an internship (in addition to my other classes) during the school year, so it's nothing to exciting:)

I read the Narnia books a lot when I was little and loved watching the old BBC versions (the ones with, as my mom says, the school play Aslan, but I tease because I love). Recently, I have re-discovered my love of Narnia when I re-read the books with my little sister, and I look forward to being able to talk with other fans online.

I think that's a fairly solid introduction, but if anyone has any specific questions, I will be happy to answer them as long as they aren't too personal or anything:D:

Welcome back Claude, Rachel and Kate! I'll look forward to getting better acquainted to you on the Lawn.

Hi, Lonely Wanderer! I hope you find a welcome home here ...

Welcome Rose! I was an English major too although I took a slight detour and ended up teaching English as a second language before becoming a full-time mom. I really like the fact that you can read the Chronicles at just about any time of life with great enjoyment and different degrees of enlightenment. How wonderful to have the privilege of introducing your little sister to the world of Narnia! Have fun at the camp where you are working...

Thanks for the welcome.

It's always nice to meet a former English major. Teaching English as a second language sounds like it would have been interesting and challenging, though probably not as challenging as being a full-time mom. I'm not sure anything can compare to the unique challenges of being a full-time mom.

The Chronicles of Narnia are great, because, when I was little, I just enjoyed the series for the wonderful adventures that they are, but now that I'm older and a little more knowledgeable about Christianity and classical mythology (thanks to high school Latin) I can understand them in another, deeper way.

Introducing my little sister to Narnia was a great joy and honor. Reading the books aloud made me realize how much the stories were meant to be read that way (as if C.S. Lewis were speaking directly to you, telling his story face-to-face) and not just silently. I can't wait to read the stories in still other ways as I mature.

As for camp, it is always exciting, especially with all the different varieties of mystery meat...

Rose, if you scroll down to The Professor's Writing Club, you will find a permanent topic-thread there called "The Marketplace of Technique" -- which is just what it sounds like.

Also, if you click on the tiger image in any post of mine, it will take you to my Narnian novel, "Southward the Tigers," whose action happens in the Narnian world in its early years.

Thanks for the welcome.

Hey Rose! Like Benisse, my degree was similar to yours. I just majored in Cross-cultural studies with an emphasis in TESOL :)

Welcome to tdl! :D

Copperfox, thanks for the welcome, and for the directions. The “Marketplace of Techniques” sounds cool, and I look forward to checking it out.

As for your story, I love the idea of a novel-length Narnia fanfiction, especially one set in the early years, about which we don’t know that much (so there is a lot of room for imaginations to have fun), and I’ve always thought that the times in Narnia that we don’t get to see in the books are very fascinating to speculate on. I’ll enjoy reading your story and seeing what you have thought up.

Fernshirehobbit, I’m glad to meet another (former) Humanities major, and thanks for the welcome:D

I love your name! Welcome to the forums, I hope you enjoy you time here.

hey! welcome! Quite a few of us members got our starts here with traits such as those. Welcome to the community. We love new members. :D Feel free to join in.

Oh, and my name is Fernie. Nice to meet you :D

Always good to get new members. If you scroll down to the major section called Professor's Writing Club, you can find in that section a topic thread called "Sonnets Here, In-House." The majority of poems there are descriptions of forum members, making the thread a get-acquainted device.
