This is Valentine's Day (for about an hour longer), and in honor of that, what is the best kiss in children's or teens literature you have read?

Three of my favorites:

Harry's birthday kiss by Ginny in Deathly Hallows (JK Rowling). It wa basically a parting kiss before Harry would have to leave on his mission that was going to last for an unknown amount of time.

The first Lyra/Will kiss in Amber Spyglass (Philip PUllman). It was a love that changed everything and coiuld be felt in all universes.

Liesel's kiss for Rudy in The Book Thief (Markus Zusak). It was the love that was earned, just realized too late. It was also the one that caused me the most tears.

book kisses...hmm...

I'd say the kiss between a young girl (I cant remember her name) and a young boy (cant remember his) in the book Hearts of Iron.

I dont read many love stories so :p

YES. Omg, yes. This part made me cry so much. (Actually, I cried more over this book than any other, except Les Miserables)

As for other kisses, I got nothing. But I agree with this.

1) Yes, BK, I am trying to come up with a list of YA book kisses only. This is not the only place I have asked this question. However, if you feel the need to, go ahead and give the kisses of adult books, just let it be known.

2) CG, only if the kiss in Avatar, the Last Airbender was specifically in a book would it count, and not a book based on an episode or movie. So inky, the Suspian kiss wouldn't count. There were no kisses in Narnia that would qualify in this list.

3) TSI, Even knowing beforehand what was going to happen in "The Book Thief" didn't minimize the effect one bit. That was one of the saddest kisses I remember reading.

Yeah, I'm the type of person who always reads the end of the book before I'm done, so I knew it would happen. It didn't help.

I know there are kisses in books I've read, I just forget. Ha. My brain is shot...I should go to bed.

*thinks*

Hm, I don't read too many kids/teen books, I guess...

oh there are too many to count. But my number ones are from Maggie's real men series.

you know how to say all the right things honey. :)

Best book kiss would probably be Rhience and Luneta in The Lioness And Her Knight. It's not terribly descriptive and is just very very sweet. I do believe the words are "And then Rhience kissed Luneta, who didn't find it boring at all." That simple.

I don't have anything to add, but that was so sweet! Haha, that book was awesome... :p

I liked it. *shrugs* Guess that's why I'm not too popular with book fans on here.

You are popular with everyone here!
You are just in the minority on that opinion.

I cannot think of any kisses in YA literature, which is weird because I read a lot of YA books -- oh, I know one! In To Kill a Mockingbird, one time when Dill is leaving the next day he gives Scout a quick goodbye kiss. I always thought that was cute! :p

That's not what I am talking about TSI. If you remember, Death gives a hint of their kiss on p. 241-2 in the part entitled "The Floating Book (Part 1)". Death apologizes for doing so, but as he say, "Mysery bore me."

I haven't read many kids books with kissing in them.
I did read stardust, but it ended badly(a little too adult) and it had ONE kiss in it.
So I'll pick some from MY writings and movies.

1: I DID think the sus-caspian kiss was pretty sweet.
2:In my story Tigerlily kisses caspian during a dinner party after everyone starts chanting "kiss him! kiss him!"
3: I saw a clip from Dorian gray when he kisses somebody(don't know who)
It wasn't gross,it was sweet.
4: also I LOVE the one from Peter pan(live version) when wendy gives him a "thimble":D

So I'm with CG on no. 1:)
(Can I have a shot gun too CG?)

I like the first kiss in Fairest by Gail Carson Levine. It is a version of Snow White where the heroine has some real problems with the way she sees herself. I like the first kiss because it helps her see that she is beautiful. She also begins humming a tune in her head, as they kiss and that struck me as really sweet.
