Magician's Nephew Speculation

I think the trailer should treat the movie extremely seriously, with the first trailer being one to start a buzz.
It starts out with a shot of the Lamppost outside the house, before switching to Digory In the Backyard with Polly, Digory:"What Happens If we could go someplace? Someplace Where there is no more sadness?"
We see a shot of them returning to the house and cut to Uncle Andrew with the Rings, Uncle Andrew says something about the Rings and we watch as Polly puts it on.
Here the score takes over, something Fast and Adventureous with the sound of Danger underneath. We have several quick cuts of the Wood Between the Worlds, the puddle traveling, Victorian London, the Narnian Trees Growing, the lamppost, A flash of Aslan, and then the score reaches it's build up we get a shot of Polly and Digory in Charn after Digory has rung the bell, we see Jadis stand up towering over them, "hello children" . then we cut to the Logo, studio credits, and release date, before returning to an Adult Digory, with a slamming a book infront of the Pevs. "AND THAT is how it all Began!"

End trailer.
Of course as usual, this makes the film look different then it is, but first trailers (or teaser trailers) are to create a buzz, before the full one is out. Some of the shots and Duologue are possibly created just for the trailer.

Thanks :D
I think I came up with the dialog with Uncle Andrew.
Polly *hesitantly to UA* What do they do?
Uncle Andrew: *with a strangely sinister look* They'll take you beyond your wildest dream!

Wow. Yes. That would be amazing. They definitely need to treat this as a serious movie. How spectacular it could turn out to be!

Yes! They have to give it the old ' Baddie rises from the dead to take revenge' shtick that way the audience has that emotional connection to it. It's the same way Disney is marketing Winnie-the-Pooh (2011), the first trailer so far, is harping at the audience to remember their fond memories of the Pooh universe, even though it has been treated as toddler material for the last decade.
This is Narnia's reboot, just like Pooh, and so they need to get serious and remind the audience on why they cared in the first place. Jadis has been treated as a fleeting spirit lacking in power, during the last 2 films. One of the issues with VDT was the lack of a true villain, instead of this green fart cloud, it should have been the inner temptation of the Lords and our main characters (much like the greedy gnome creature in LOTR, what's his name?). However, MN has all the things that made LWW successful:
1. a clear Christian Parallel
2. a strong Villain
3. Engaging Characters
4. a Heart stringed back story. (digory's mom)
5. Aslan's strong presence.
6. Narnian Characters present (talking animals, which had smaller parts in the last two films)
7. It's set in Narnia ( No Oz syndrome, Where a book is in a Magical world setting, but never actually takes place in that world)
8. the inability to lean on LWW / PC/ VDT as a crutch ( PC & VDT relied heavily on reminding the Audience of the first film, with references. while not a bad thing to do, The film should stand on it's own without having to do "OMG look we are so like the first film!!!". Not to mention that since it's the first Narnia book, they can only reference LWW with the Lamppost, Jadis, and the Wardrobe).

They can't use "Jadis has risen from the dead" because she wasn't dead until LWW. A good shot of Jadis would be when she's awoken from the enchanted sleep. If it's first touted as a prequel to LWW, then when audiences see Jadis alive, it'll naturallly make them curious. ;) There wouldn't even be a need to include Jadis' n ame in the trailer.

I know that but the first trailer is always deceptive, go look at the trailers for Tangled and VDT they promise something different that the actual movie was. Tangled was no Shrek clone, and VDT wasn't quite as bad as the trailer led us to believe. The audience also has no familiarity of the books past LWW, so to them it will seem that 'Big baddie has risen from the dead to get their revenge'. It won't be until the second trailer or the actual movie that the truth would be told.
Your idea also makes sense though :D, it all depends how it's marketed.

That's a matter of opinion. ;) The trailers made it look better than what we got.

Oh yes, you need to spend some time with members like Gondorgirl or PrinceOfTheWest. They know a ton about Lord of the Rings and could probably educate you. :p

I feel ashamed because I have the boxed set with the hobbit, and the Movies, in both German and English. I haven't watched them because I want to read the books first, but Tolkien is apparently very wordy and descriptive. I've been turned off by the 'Let me describe a dwarf under a tree for 5 chapters' fantasies, and I REALLY REALLY want to like LOTR. Oh, and plus senior year doesn't let me read much (TORTURE!!!!!!). I'll be so glad for summer :p

So, Aravis what do you look forward to in the new picture?

Not that I'll be seeing it, but I do hope that they keep in the scene between Aslan and Digory cry over Digory's mother. To me that was one of the most important pieces of the story.

!!!!!
That is my favorite scene in the book!!! I cried the first time I read it, and again when I heard the American Radio adaptation. They can't screw that scene or I'll be beating you at the negative opinions of the film!!! :D :p
Sorry, I love My Narnia *hugs book series*

Aslan's country posted today (April 1st) a scanning of a script page from a attempt at MN (thanks Aravis for pointing this out!). Normally I would pass it off as a April fool's joke, however it is formated correctly for a script page and dated 3/14/11 by one of the main writers from VDT. I was pretty sure we were told that they had no script yet ( or maybe no script ready is what they meant?). It's not odd as Walden did some kind of work on MN in the past as a drawing of a winged horse not unlike Strawberry appears in the Creating Narnia book. To me it sounds a bit week for such a dramatic scene, but the marking mean it's an early draft, so maybe it will get better on the 2nd or 3rd attempt...

EDIT: silly me I forgot the link :D :

Interesting...but why would they say there's no script yet if they've already been drafting one?

Oh never mind...the writers for Pirates 3 claimed that the leaked script was nothing like the movie. Surprise surprise, it was.

It could be that it is old, from before the Disney break up (in order to do they movie a year plan they had, they would have at least tried it), but the date throws that idea off the cliff.

The only thing I can think off, is when they said that, they meant they hadn't finished. All the marking, especially that chunk of dialog from Polly at the top, means they are still figuring out how to make the scene work. Plus this is at the very beginning of the book, so they may not be that far along...

but, your right too about the Pirates thing. It wouldn't be the first time that happened. I just hope they really read the book and try to make a great adaptation. This page altogether can't be more than a minute in length, so who knows...

Nope, I wouldn't. It would take about 5 million Narnia fans to rave about it before I'd consider it. And the box office numbers would have to be up near the level of LWW's for the first month in theaters. Foreign totals won't matter to me, and if the first month doesn't show high returns, I'll rent the dvd.

Personally, I loved the VDT, but i know that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, so I shant go on about it, because apparently, you all get angry with people who try to defend the movies. Look, I don't think HQK meant it the way you all took it. I think that she was just trying to get everyone to lighten up about it, and not down the movie that we love.

I really don't want anyone to take this the wrong way, so I am going to make sure that I word it very carefully. *ahem* I know that I personally get annoyed when people insult something on a thread that is clearly for praising whatever it was that the person was insulting. If you want to insult the movies, create a thread for it, but please, don't rave about it on threads meant to praise the movies. I really hope that did not come out wrong, cause I really dont want anyone to get mad at me.

Another thing. How do you know that they are going to do a poor job on MN? It may be really good, I mean, they have literally just recently announced that they are going to make it. Maybe we should wait and see it before judging it...... Just a thought.

I thought of something that my mom always told me. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Now that does not mean that you cant have your own opinion, nor does it mean that you can not express it, I just think that maybe y'all should maybe be a little more considerate of others opinions as well, and post your complaints in another thread.

LIke I said, I really dont want to offend anyone, or make anyone mad at me, but if any of what I said did offend you, I apologize!! I did not mean to offend you at all. I have learned that if I express my opinion, people get mad at me for doing so (and I don't know why, cause Im not trying to make anyone mad :( ) and so I get really worried when I do say something like the above. Please don't get mad at me.
