My First Fan-Fic

*sigh* Yes, you can put the chair away now......

......
It several minutes before Emily knew what was happening. Even then, she was not sure of what was happening and what wasn't. It was to dark to be sure of anything. She shuddered. At least, for the moment, she was alone in the darkness. No voices, no noises. Nothing. She was alone. Or was she? Her friends were there, weren't they? Of course they were, but they couldn't tell what she was going through. Cold. It was cold. Would it ever leave her alone? Would her life ever be normal again? But then, what was a normal life? Surely she had never led one. She was alone, in the dark and the cold, pondering things that had been plaguing her for a very long time. Then, she heard it. A faint whisper at first, but getting louder and louder all of the time. The voice again, whispering to her that she was worthless, meaningless. She fought back the impulse to believe it. "No!" she cried. "I'm not worthless! I must have a meaning!"
"But what is that meaning, if you have one?" came the taunting reply.
"I don't know, but I'm going to find out!"
The wicked cruel laugh cut deep into her. "You'll never find it, because you have no meaning! You have no purpose, and you are worthless!!"
"No!" she cried. "That's not true!"
The laugh again. "Yes, it is true. Face the facts! You are a worthless wretched creature who has been nothing but a burden since day one!"
Emily cowered. Was it true? The cold gripped her tighter. She screamed and fought against it. But it was no use. She was doomed.

This is next:

......
She fought the cold and the voice, but she couldn't fight for long. Slowly, she ceased struggling and was still. Despairing, she gave it up, certain that it was all over. She had reached the end of her rope, come to the end of the line. She could do nothing else; she couldn't save herself. The laughter began again, cruel and harsh. "You can't beat me!" the voice crowed. "You'll never win this! It's all over for you!" Suddenly, she heard a loud roar. The voice was silenced and a ray of light entered her darkened world. Another voice, strong and grave, yet friendly and kind roared, "Leave her alone, Witch! She is not yours to take!" There was a loud shriek, as the Witch's voice faded. The cold melted and the light increased. She opened her eyes slowly and looked around. Was it really over? Yes, it was. She sat up amid wild cries of delight from the Pevensies and the Beavers, but the first person that she saw, was a great, golden, majestic, Lion.

Emily stared. The Lion's eyes were kind and gentle, and at the same time, fierce and strong. She found that she had to look away quickly, as she could not hold the Lion's gaze. She whispered one word, and one word only; and as she said it, everything seemed to make sense.
"Aslan," she whispered.
The Lion bent his great head towards her own and kissed her forehead. "Welcome, my child," he said. "Your time in the darkness has ended. Welcome into the light of a new day."
Emily looked up. Tears sparkled in her eyes. She couldn't find anything to say, and she didn't need to say anything. She felt for the first time, that she was truely free of everything that held her captive for so long. The fear and the pain and worry were all gone; she was free.

Emily spent the next hour or so alone, thinking. She had a lot to think about, and a lot of questions to ask. The questions, though, would have to wait. She also decided that she would have to tell the Pevensies all that had happened to her. No more secrets. She had had quite enough of hiding away everything that had hurt her. She was through with trying to make it on her own, because she had tried that path, and it just didn't work.
