My First Fan-Fic

(Don't worry, I won't let you guys hang for too long!:D)

Emily folded her arms across her chest and said, "Well, It's all very well that you four have a part to play in all this, but where do I come in? As far as I can see I have no purpose!"
Everyone stared at her in shocked silence. Then, Mr. Beaver spoke up.
"My dear, at the moment, it seem like you have no purpose, but that is not true. Evrything has a purpose. If you had no purpose, you would not be here. Aslan does not call people that he does not need."
Emily looked like she was going to cry.
"Who is Aslan?" Edmund asked.
Mr. Beaver laughed. "You must be joking, son of Adam! You can't stand there and tell me that you don't know who Aslan is!"
"Well," Peter said, "we haven't been here for very long, you know."
"Aslan," said Mrs. Beaver, "is the real King of Narnia. He rules over this whole world and is the son of the Emperor over the sea. Over the sea he comes to us."

Emily sat, not listening to the others talking about Aslan. The memories were coming on to fast for that. It was almost as if she were asleep, sitting there, oblivious to everyone else.

A platform. People talking and shouting to each other. Mothers sending their children to the country. Soldiers returning or leaving. Tessa was leaving to go to the country. Emily made her way to where her friend was standing with her mother.
"Emily," Tessa said, "I'm going to miss you."
Emily blinked her tears back. "I'll miss you, too."
"Best friends?"
"Of course, Tessa; we'll always be."
Tessa left on the train a few moments after that.
The collision was horible. People said that you could hear from two miles away. Almost no one had survived.
A hospital room. It was quiet, too quiet.
Emily sat with Tessa, hoping, praying.
"Emily?"
"Tessa!"
"Best friends, right?"
"We'll always be best friends, Tessa."
"No, Emily. Don't forget me."
"Tessa, you're going to live! We'll always be best friends!"
"Don't forget me! Promise that you won't!"
"I won't forget you, Tessa; I promise. But you're going to live, you have to!"
Silence.
"Tessa?"
Silence.
"Tessa!"

"Emily!" It was Susan again. Emily shook herself and looked up.
"What is it?"
"Edmund's gone!"

"He's gone?" Emily said. She wasn't very suprised, though.
"Yes," Peter said. "I'm going to kill him."
"You may not have to," Mr. Beaver said. "Has Edmund ever been to Narnia before?"
Lucy bit her lip. "Yes, I'm afraid that he has."
"I had a feeling about him ever since I first laid eyes on him that something was up," said Mr. Beaver. "He'll have gone to - her."
"The Witch?" Susan asked, bewildered.
Mr. Beaver nodded sadly. "Yes. He had the look of one who was enchanted or bewitched. After a while you can tell."
Emily shuddered. She had noticed that Edmund was acting strange right off; but she hadn't said anything. Why hadn't she? She had kept silent when she should have spoken up, and now Edmund had put himself and the rest of them in grave danger.

A moment later they were rushing out of the door to try and find him. They found his tracks and followed them. It didn't look good. They led towards the Witch's castle.

*is overwhelmed by people shouting for her to update* Okay, okay! your wish is granted; this time, at least.

...
They followed Edmund's tracks until they came to the edge of a giant frozen lake. In the very middle on a small island sat the Witch's castle. It looked very dark and cold and menacing. Everyone shivered when they looked at it.
"Edmund!" Lucy shouted.
"Shhhh! They'll hear ya!" Mr. beaver said.
Peter looked as Mr. Beaver and then started to run after his brother.
"No!" Mr. Beaver said.
Emily reached out and caught Peter's arm as he went, bringing him to a stop. He turned and looked at her. Emily let her hand fall back to rest near her side and she looked away. She wasn't about to admitt that she didn't want to loose him, too. She had lost everyone else; and she wasn't about to loose him, or Susan or Lucy. Already, it seemed as if she had lost Edmund.
"We can't just let Edmund go!" Susan said.
"He's our brother!" Lucy said.
"He's the bait!" Mr. Beaver said. "The Witch wants all four of you!"
"But why?" Peter asked.
"To kill you!" was the reply.
"What are we to do then?" Susan asked.
"Only Aslan can help you now," Mr. Beaver said.
"Then take us to him," said Peter.
