Does anyone like The Kignston Trio?I love their music..
Also,any Folk music fans?:D

*Is one.* I think Folk is pretty much the only thing I listen to besides Contemporary Gospel, Country, Bluegrass, or Classical. I'm into the traditional Celtic music and old English ballads, mostly. :p When it comes to Folk music, however, I really only like the voice(s) singing and the instruments and melody. A lot of the old ballads are absolutely depressing.

Did the Kingston trio sang Tom Dooley? The name sounds familiar. Folk music? It depends on what song. I loved John Denver who sang country and folk songs.
Yep,"Tom Dooley",Also "Rueben James","El Matador","Bonny Hielan Laddie",and tons of others..I have about 6 cassettes,a CD,and 2 records by them.:p

I love Celtic music,too...Ever heard Silly Wizard?They were a Scottish 80s-90s group.
Or Joan Baez.."Trees They Do Grow High"?I love that one!:)
Theres a new group ,Stark Raven, who did "John Of Hazelgreen",which is an old English ballad thats happy, and very pretty!

I loved John Denver who sang country and folk songs.

Oh..I love "Sunshine On My Shoulders"!:)

Did you know John Denver was with the Chad Mitchell Trio before he went solo?He did a beautiful song called "For Bobbi" with them.(Peter,Paul and Mary later remade it as "For Baby")

I know! I saw it at wikipedia encyclopedia. I loved Calypso the most. Childhood memories. When I was a kid, JD was extremely populair in my country.
Another band I highly recommend are The Drifters. Especially with ben E King but also without him. They have beautiful voices and I personally like them better than the Platters who I love very much as well.

I haven't heard the Drifters,but I'll diffinatley look for them.:D
I love the Platters,though....:D

"when a lovely flame dies...smoke gets in your eyes."

oops..song moment! lol. right now i'm in a Beatles craze...like, i actually got a T-SHIRT! i never buy band tee's!

LOL,I want an Elvis shirt...I'm going to make one as soon as I find a T-shirt thats the right color.:D

I've got an Elvis shirt. :D I love it, but I got it 3 or 4 years ago when we went to Memphis, so it's really worn out by now. :o So I have to stick with my Elvis pocketbooks, LOL.

Does anyone like Buddy Holly? My aunt and uncle had taped "The Buddy Holly Story" off of TV Land and wanted me to watch it. I did, and it was okay, pretty interesting to learn a little about him, who I knew nothing about. I was a little shocked at the end (my dad had told me what happened, but I forgot). But the first 20 minutes of the movie and a few other random parts didn't tape, so I missed some stuff. I liked a few of the songs that I heard in the movie, though, and I recognized some of them.

Kristin:LOL,Thats so neat!I saw an Elvis unbrella in a store window the other day....didn't buy it though.:p

I love Buddy Holly's music!Hes my grandfather's favorite old singer,so I have quite a few of his LPs,and cassettes.:D
Theres a movie of him???? Is it clean?
You mean the end, that he got killed in a plane crash?:(That crash also killed 2 other singers from back then who I really like-Ritchie Valens "La Bamba","Donna" and The Big Bopper "Chantilly Lace".I saw the Big Bopper on an old episode of American Bandstand not too long ago.
Theres a song written about that plane crash I like-"American Pie" by Don McLean.

BUDDY HOLLY?! The day the music died. The day BH died was a tragedy in music history. My parents were huge Buddy Holly fans and so was one of my brothers. Peggy Sue, Rave on, Listen to me, Heartbeat, It doesn't matter anymore, Brown-eyed handsome man etc. You can also see the tragic end at the movie La bamba which is about the life of Ritchie Valens. You'll see how Buddy Holly arranged a plane which would bring them through the bad wheater but unfortunately that planetrip is history right now. I always have difficulties when I see or read about this planecrash. It is sooooo sad.

My grandfather said Dion and the Belmonts (who I also like their music very much) were supposed to be on that plane, but at the last moment, took a bus instead.

My favorite Buddy Hollys:"Peggy Sue","That'll Be the Day","Heartbeat","Looking for Someone to love"..well,everyone....I have a LP of my favorites..I love records...Records are still far better than CDs/cassettes anyday.:D

We also have all our records. They are soooo awesome!! In the early 80's my mom bought the complete recordings of Elvis. Dion and the Bellmonts??? They were great!!!!! I love their music. We have a double record with Buddy Holly and an old interview with Buddy Holly. He was the first artist who brought a complete band with him like guiitar player, bass guitar player and a drummer. He has inspirered a lot of people. Do you know the song: We'll always remember Buddy Holly. Snow was falling, wind was blowing, when the world said: Goodbye Buddy. A beautiful song and truelly an amazing tribute to one of the greatest singers of all time! I often hear oldies and then I can't help singing with the song along and I feel happy :D

I haven't heard that song..who sang it?

LOL,I do that all the time..:pI even sing along in stores...I get a few looks,though....:p:D

I have an Elvis umbrella...:o I guess you could say I'm a huge fan, LOL. :p (I'll admit: I even have a life-size cardboard standup of him.)

Yeah, the movie is called "The Buddy Holly Story." I think it was made in the late 70's...I'm not sure if it's clean or not. I think my uncle cut out some parts with cuss words, and maybe another scene or two (which is why I missed some of it), so I'm not sure if the actual movie is clean or not. Yeah, my dad had told me that he died in a plane crash, but I had forgotten all about it. In the last scene of the movie, he's singing at a concert, and then it just kind of freezes on his face, and then words come up saying how he and those other 2 singers died in a plane crash that night. Anyway, I like those songs "Maybe Baby" and "That'll Be the Day."

Oh, I didn't know that song was written about that...I actually like that song a lot. :) I heard it on that radio station my parents listen to.

Buddy Holly is my favorite singer. He's the REAL king of Rock and Roll.

It always bugs me that they didn't put a monument at the crash site.

It always confuses me how Waylin Jennings, the only band member who survived, ended up as a COUNTRY singer...just doesn't add up to me.

LOL...*goes to revvive Elvis thread*:)

Yep,I love Don McLean's music.He was great,classic 70s.:)

Anyone else like the Everly Brothers?("Devoted To You","Take A message To Mary",and my favorite.."Let It Be Me")
