Brendan nodded at Alipang, as he led Chilena off. He turned around and saw Kim scowling. He figured he'd head over that way. He was going to find out what was bothering his pal. He reached Kim, and tapped her shoulder. "Kim, what just happened with Alipang?"

"His sister started accusing me that'd I'd 'hurt' him, then she told me that he liked me. As if I had known that he did like me and somehow I was being a flirt or something."

Alipang felt a little solace in the fact that Chilena was relaxing a little, _sitting_ in his lap and in his arms rather than _imprisoned_ there. So he lifted her face again and kissed her softly on the lips. "Sweets, do I feel unwanted when you're with Dan? And _you_ actually do get to _date_ him, which is more than I get to do with Kim. Haven't I told you that even if I were to get to marry Kim, I would always want you to be part of my life? You are very very wanted, Chil-Chil, and very very very loved. Oh, yeah, and also forgiven."

Towards Kevin, Brendan said "I don't remember engaging you in this conversation, please wait a minute as me and Kim discuss this". He then turned back to Kim, "Listen Kim, you don't really have the right to become defensive. Well maybe you do a tad, but really you need to realize a couple things first. Chilena and Alipang are extremely close, like no joke close. They'll do anything for eachother, and not think twice about something. So when you say Chilena was accusing you, it's more like she was defending her brother. Believe it or not, Alipang may have had a crush on you at one point. And no offense to you, you hardly paid any attention to him at all. Which is why he is, if at all, hurt. So I'm not asking you to apologize, but just be a bit more cogniscent. Hey I don't want to ruin your Labor Day picnic. I'm sure Kevin here would probably like to get back to skating. I just hope you have a better opinion of Alipang, instead of a lesser one". Brendan finished up. He left Kim there, and went to look for more food.

{Assuming all have moved away some from the stage} There was no rest for Kim. Now Erin Conrad, the reptile expert, also came up, asking what was going on with Alipang and Chilena. Erin was already more aware of Alipang's feelings for Kim than Kim was.

Kim explained everything she had just said to Brendan. "Ugh way to make things awkward. Now what do I say to him."

Kevin stayed with Kim, wondering if he had now a chance since this Al kid seemed to be out of the picture
 
Seeing that the hurt arm made it uncomfortable for Chilena to get up, Alipang said, "I don't think we were tracked to this bench. Just stay with me, wo-woh, just a little bit long-ong-ger, then I'll help you up;" and he pressed her in closer against him. "There's more forgiving to be done, after all."
 
"Actually, you can--just lower down around my waist...yes, about there...good thing with it being your left arm, it doesn't affect my rib...come on, right around...easy, eee-zeeee.... { *kiss* } ...my goodness, how did that kiss slip in there?...Okay, you're good: hugging me with both arms."
 
"In a minute; I want to be sure your left arm isn't hurting in that position, because I hope to remain a customer for your hugs."
 
Alipang kept her there in his lap for another two minutes; then he did help her stand, hugged her again in a standing position, and went with her to retrieve and drive her car, having let Mom know their plan. Alipang did not, however, tell Mom why they felt a need to get away from the picnic.
 
So Alipang searched for a place that would be OPEN when most of the county was at the Smoky Lake picnic. A fairly decent truck stop ended up supplying their need.
 
Summer had seen part of the exchange between Alipang, Chilena and Kim. She hadn't wanted to interrupt but know she felt like it was ok to call Alipang. Dialing his number she waited for him to pick up.
