Prince Caspian: Ben Barnes & why is he so old?

well.
i mean, I dont really fret over the actor and say "OMGH! he doesnt look like a Caspian! oh dear! the whole movie is ruined!" I dont care who's playing who.

Thank you pink-cheetah, I completely agree with that post.

I mean, if you really love and care about the book, if you've been a fan of the books, this is going to be a disappointment. And we have every right to be disappointed when they are changing our beloved, humble, boyish Caspian into a cocky, flirty, 25-year old.

I love the Prince Caspian book too much to say I'm not really sad about this.

Like I said, I have nothing against Ben. But he wouldn't have been casted if they cared about the books.

I do in fact greatly love and care for the books. But..I just cant put my point down on why im mad u guys are putting down Ben and acting like the whole movie is ruined already.

I don't really fret over that either. ;)
It's just his age that bothers me, which is why it seems like I'm making such a big deal about it. If he doesn't look like Caspian, fine- they've got makeup (look at James MacAvoy!) and they can fix it, right? They can't fix the age. But hey, if he can pull off being 14, then I might end up being alright. It also disturbs me that they claim they are going to put in a flirt thing with Susan and Caspian.

EDIT: The movie is not ruined.... I just don't agree with the casting choice. It's not about Ben Barnes or his acting! It is the fact, that despite they said they want to stick with the book, they went ahead and casted someway older.

What I am afraid of is that Ben will carry to much maturity into the role with him, and Caspian is not supposed to be very mature.

They are???
Omgh..thats gonna put the movie down! a whole Susan and Caspian thing....>.>

now that gets me upset...cuz..Su and Casp-never liked each other more than friends!

*is going to ignore the su/casp thing in the movie*

The whole Casp/Su deal.

Oh well..its not like the whole movie will revolve around their relationship. and anyways...its not exactly destroying the movie. Movies arent like the books at all really (say LOTR) so you could tell something like this would be added in the movie.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But the thing that gets me mad is that they specifically said they would be sticking with the books as much as they could. Adding a romance didn't need to be added. There are already fans of the book who would go to see the movie. There's no need to add a romance just to attract teenagers to see it. Normally, I'm a sucker for romances, but this is taking it too far. I would prefer there to be no romancing in this movie. There shouldn't be time, especially when Miraz is trying to kill Caspian! There should be a sense of urgency, and if there has to be love, I would prefer it to be the brother/sister kind of love.

^yeah, and of course in VODT when they land on Ramandu's Island, the Star's Daughter, cuz of course, they get married, so I wouldnt mind that.

here is the quote from PC: "Peter had a glimpse of a horrible, gray, guant creature, half man and half wolf, in the very act of leaping upon a boy about his own age..." also in Trumpkin's story you hear that Caspian was many years under DC's tutilage before Pruniprismia's pregnancy. It says nothing of Caspian's height in the books so he might well have been taller than Peter.

About his own age were the words, as you stated, although it could refer to him being older, but more likely than not, younger than Peter. The tutilage, as you say, probably began when Caspian was extremely young, because before Dr. Cornelius, he had a nurse who told him "fairy tales" (as Miraz called them). The time Caspian was under the teachings of Doctor Conelius might have ranged from when he was 6 to 12 or something. It's rare to find the childlike humbleness and quality of Caspian in an older person. But still, Peter was around 13, 14, 15-ish, so I would place Caspian somewhere in that range. Which is still... too young......

I know.
Everyone is putting down Ben cuz of his age.

hello..have u seen him act in PC as Caspian yet? No. So dont be so judgemental.

Yeah, though someone on here, I wont say who, is overeacting way too much. and they act like the whole movie is gonna be ruined cuz the actor for Queen P's hair isnt red... shes not a main charatcer..she doesnt even have any lines! :p though they may give her some in the movie.

I don't mind the Queen P-whatever her name is... I don't mind a minor change like that, you know, giving her a line or two to say to her husband or Caspian when he was small or something.... it's just.....

by chance, who is it?
