Yeah, I know they won't get married...but when it comes to Narnia...I just can't stand an injected romance when there isn't one. It...just doesn't seem right. It almost seems as if people get desperate to put romance in, even a tiny bit, to make it so much more interesting, and because every other fantasy movie has it. Although in Eragon it was overexaggerated WAY too much...(thus, an example of the desperation I was talking about). If people do it over that "desperation"--I know that's not the right word, but something to that effect--then that seems to me not showing enough appreciation for the original story Lewis or any other author, for that matter, created. Isn't it good enough without romance? To me it is, and I think to the majority of fans, it is too.

I agree! When a book like this masterpiece has no romance/love in it, it is just irritating, annoying, silly and... And Susan/Caspian is just an outrage!!!! It makes me soo angry...and gross, Prince Caspian is actually just a little kid... Makes me a bit sick thinking about it!

Maybe I overreacted a bit, but I just had to say that...
LOL! :)

I think that part about desperation is right. People in the media deny that there can be a thrill in relationship with God, or a thrill in true friendship, so they have to inject some kind of thrill and they turn to romance. But it's not really necessary in CON at all.

Well, I don't think it's really going to be a romance. I think Susan just has this one little scene where she's helping Caspian to shoot arrows...I dunno how "flirty" it will be, though...probably hardly at all, knowing Adamson, who practically adores the books.

Hopefully that's all it is...I seriously doubt that Adamson would toy with the story like that. I mean...Douglas Gresham is a co-producer, so he'd have to stay true to the book anyway :p

I am hoping so to. You know, with us discussing it in pretty much every PC thread, I doubt we need a whole thread just about Caspian and Su.

Not really no...he wouldn't. Doug is a producer, but he's had to compromise on some things already. I don't know that he gets the final say on things. Andrew said he wants to stay true to the books but embellish here and there. We'll have to wait and see how things come out and not borrow too much trouble. Doug said that people needed to worry more about global warming than the Caspian/Susan romance.

Yeah really...with the movie we'll have to see what happens when it's released. I'm greatly encouraged by Emily's blog entry that some of my favorite scenes are closer to the book than I thought they'd be and that they haven't been left out all together. We vote what we think with our pocketbooks...but if the vote isn't good further movies aren't made...grrr.
