Simon Curtis as Caspian? Opinions please! :)

lol, well I kind of take that as a compliment actually...

In real life I really am not anything anyone would consider "chiseled," in fact, I would say I am quite the opposite. If anything I would describe myself as cherubic or something! lol

But yeah, Cyon, I wouldnt get so worked up. It wasnt as though they potentially wouldnt consider an American...she simply said that there arent any plans to include America in the casting process; which is TOTALLY understandable.

At this point my only shot will be if my agent and manager could get me an interview with someone from the production based here in the states...so we shall see. Still is in the realm of possibility, no matter how unlikely.

Definitely no need to get on the case of people like Ms. Hall and Brits in general. She was very kind in her email, and I am sure (considering how busy she is) that she is fielding such emails left and right, so I most certainly appreciate the level of care and kindness with which she handled it. It really reflected someone who cared about the final product.

On a personal but light hearted note, you havent convinced me at all, why you want to be Caspian except to further your career, be that in music or the entertainment industry in general. I mean your sort of a seedy fame-seeking z-list celebrity exposing yourself at any good opportunity, I am sure you probably have a stalker already, if not then hey you haven't made the cut. Honestly the rest of us plebs aint suitable for general consumption and we dont come nicely packaged delivered fresh from the bakery, rather were the reason why its called the baker's dozen' to throw out the ugly looking one out just in case. I guess your in that statistic of 1 in 4 Americans who have graced your presence stateside, given ample opportunity for some TV exec to notice your personality that you hoped for, but rather your looks are marketed than anything else. Its time to get of that soapbox and rally for someone who knows how to act not some singer wannabe actor. Leave that to us Brits who can say 'bloke', 'lifts' and 'fags' (cigarretes by the way) without a forced 'Dick-van-Dyke' cockneyed accent. Im sure Dorothy would wish with her ruby slippers that a Kansas native or an American to play her, right?

There's probably a reason why an English guy got casted as 'Eragon', they want to fool people into believing that this is Lord of the RIngs (a rip-off IMHO), with an American accent in fantasy films you get trash like dungeons and dragons, Dinotopia, Earthsea. You know Im telling the truth :rolleyes: . Speak the queen's English don't bastardise the english language, dont slur your words speak with aplomb (although technically speaking we brits did bastardise 'Latin').

Anyhoo, enough of my rant, your reading from an ass (donkey) 'Bottom's the name and sillyness is my game...

P.S I had to rethink if I'd consider if Stars Wars is a fantasy film? hmm more sci-fi than fantasy, but nowadays what is defined as fantasy is considered a taboo, the profane!!!

I want to audition for Caspian because I love the books, and the prospect of participating in one of the movies is obsession-worthy.

Please don't assume that just because I am American that I am stupid, inarticulate, or lacking the vocabulary and mastery of the English language that the Brits are known for.

At first it was funny, but now you seem to just be trying desperately to get my goat. Do you really think I look good enough to be considered "manufactured?"

And as far as my music is concerned, I haven't once even discussed it on this thread...how do you even know of it?

And in reality, what bit of good is participating on this site going to get me besides having a good time, talking about Narnia with my fellow fantasy-nerds? Not a whole lot, as far as advancing my career is concerned.

Yes, I am an actor and a musician, but I am also an avid reader and devout fantasy lover.

May I ask why all the animosity?

Sure, you finish up every post with "don't mind me, I'm an ass, just kidding, haha, etc," but thats like the boy who cried wolf shouting "just kidding" after the town is already in a frenzy.

Just curious as to what sparked such ill feelings.

It may seem while reviewing some of my posts, in hindsight it seems offensive or damn right derogatory. I’m not by nature a hostile person and in anyway do I attempt to degrade you, as I am sure your friends and family are far greater judge of character than myself. My posts were intentional, in that it satirises the held prejudices of us Brits have on the Hollywood industry in general and preconceived opinions others have on us. I realise that our humour differs somewhat, but by means does that assume my sense of humour is far superior than yours because thats just making an ‘ASS out of U and Me’. If one can honestly laugh at oneself without malicious inntent our common held prejudices dissipate, perhaps I might of overbeared my mark.


Can you honestly blame me for thinking you have this manufactured look? All the other Caspian wannabes seem far down to earth with the amateur candid photos taken of themselves and you decided to post photos which seemed to have popped out of a male modelling catalogue, it screams self-promotion. The other guys seem like true fans without any pretentions they are seem more approachable just like your average Joe. If an honest true ‘caspiankid’ were to post a picture that was non-promotional or photo through a non-rose tinted lens, ‘with warts and all’ then I would believe you have some integrity and quite humbled about your appearance.

Personality-wise, I am still unconvinced maybe its because you haven’t talked anything about yourself except for this page or anything much narnian, sure you say you ‘loved the books’ but is thats not enough. ‘Princecaspianwannabe’ has a short temper and is quite moody, the-half-blood prince (formerly known as captainjacksparrow) is perhaps one of the most gifted writers around and Cyon just rambles with a stream-of-consciousness that I find quite endearing. They are unique in their own eccentric manner but they reflect that well. I wouldn’t mind if they were Caspian they would bring their quirkiness to the part.

Show me that I’m wrong, I like to be proven wrong as it humbles me. So who are you caspiankid? Show thyself!!

I've been quite civil, havent used any fowl language to exacerbate the situation, Im giving an honest opinion. Whether what I state is the truth about 'caspiankid' IS questionable?

'Another man's meat is another man's poison' -I guess, in your case the slightest bit of criticism can easily be construed as offensive. To tottyfruity - Dat's cool. Um, can we just re-cap here. Caspiankid, this is what I'm getting, now, from your posts. They're not going to do any auditions in America, but would NOT be against casting an American in the role? Or are they set on having a British actor? 'Cause the reason I was ticked off was that I was under the impression that you were told that they were shutting all non-Brits out of the auditioning process. Hence my inflamatory comments. Please correct me where I'm wrong.

Well, I believe (from all of my research thus far) that they do want Caspian to have a British accent, and are therefore only holding castings in England.
HOWEVER, this is not to say they won't consider an American speaking in a trained accent...

The only problem is getting someone from the production to not only A) notice you, but B) have such an interest that they would set up an interview for you.

As of right now both my agency and manager are working very hard to try and at least get a yes or no to an interview for me from the production here in LA. Who knows if even that will work? I do assume, however, that it would be nearly impossible to procure an interview as an American without representation.

This is just what I have gathered thus far.


You guys also need to read The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, realllly great series!
 
To tottyfruity - Well, the films are coming out this winter (not to far off). Dark Resurrection has two trailers, one released sometime earlier this year (A) and the other (B) released last month, I think. So far, I've seen only one trailer for Threads of Destiny. Dark Resurrection is Italian and Threads of Destiny is either American or Swedish. BTW, have you seen them? They look better done than the flippin prequels (SW Ep. 1, 2, and 3). When Dark Resurrection comes out, it will be released in two parts, each 40 minutes long. I think they're doing the same for Threads of Destiny. The URL for Dark Resurrection's site in in the picture in my sig. So go check it out. I'm sure you'll be amazed. I was.

To caspiankid - Okay, that definitley clears a lot up. So, there's still a slight chance. But, ja better get in by November then, huh? Perhaps if I made a short film where I showcased some acting talent and a British accent, I MIGHT have a chance at at least getting considered. I guess I'll try that, as i already have a short script written up for a duel-centered film, with some cool lines. Well...
