The Lord of the Rings- J.R.R. Tolkien

I can't wait to see the trailer!

I feel somewhat left out, though. I never saw the other movies in theaters, since I was too young at the time. Still, I'm equally excited... Seeing "The Hobbit" in theaters will be very special for me. While I am sorry that there was such a lengthy delay between productions, I'm thankful that I'll be aware of and excited about it while it's new. :p

I missed out on seeing LotR in theaters as well, but I was grabbing everything I could on the movies when they came out, with the exception of FotR. In fact, Arwen-Undomiel.com was probably where I hung out the most, reading the scripts, interviews, absolutely EVERYTHING possible about the movies before I saw them. I did that with Star Wars too. :p ;)

The Hobbit is something I grew up with. I have fond memories of the cartoon from the 70's.

While I am no where near a die hard Tolkien fan, his series did launch my love for the fantasy genre. I've read The Hobbit, LotR and have tried the Silmarillion but can't get into it.

Never looked into the life of Mr. Tolkien either. I didn't even know that he was good friends with C.S. Lewis until I came to this forum.

Welcome to TDL! :) I've never been able to get past page 2 of The Silmarillion, but that was also several years ago. Been considering trying it again, but I honestly think it'd be a little too deep for me. ;)

Yep, pretty much the same for me. It sits on my bookshelf, and once in a while I'll be browsing my books looking for something to read and I'll pick it up. Read a few pages and then stop.

I'll finish it eventually, when there's no other books on my reading list. ;)

But I am thinking of rereading The Hobbit and LotR after I read the rest of the CoN.

Also, has anyone read Children of Hurin?

I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can tell, due to my uncustomary overuse of exclamation marks.

*squeals*

*runs in circles*

:D I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

I was just about to post that one.

But here is this one too. And it has the official teaser poster!

Love the poster. Fits perfectly with the teasers for FOTR, TTT, and ROTK.

Also I loved the snipits of the score, esp. the preview of the theme for Thorin and co. No doubt they wouldn't use the Fellowship theme ( as they aren't the Fellowship.) Oh, now the agony of waiting for the score on CD! Why must I wait for such musical goodness? why? oh, why?
