The Wheel Of Time- Robert Jordan

lol, thanks Rosy. Not sure I have the staying power, but I'll let you know how it goes... I will watch the contest with interest.

I have a question for y'all. It seems to me that there's a lot of 'women. they're crazy. No point trying to understand them.' and 'men. they're crazy. No point trying to understand them,' stuff going on. Now, do any of the characters ever start understanding one another? because I feel that sometimes Robert Jordan has a slightly stereotypical attitude to male/female relations!

It's because it's all so true!!!
No matter what context you put the male/female relationship in it's always the saem 'oh I wonder what their thinking?', and 'oh soandso would handle this so much better than me', with all the other frustrations of , from my humble opinion only, the boys of this world..give them a sword and a few magic powers and I'd still be confused!

Ahhhh - they see through my disguise. I'm using the carrot of competition to make moe WoTites!!!!

Hahah - Johan hated hte books cos of all the stereotypes but like Rosy say - I think its realistic!!

Mmm... maybe you're right. And there are some characters who finally seem to be getting over it! (I don't want to say too much, in case of spoiling it.)

The relationships in WoT are a little strange - they basically come out of nowhere. I mean, unless you have the feeling that these two characters will get together because you think they'd be nice together/they need a partner/whatever, a couple is together before you even realized there might be something between them. I mean, I never thought Rand would get together with some of his...yeah, and Egwene and...

Other times it seems as if someone was introduced/reintroduced for the sole purpose of being a character's partner, and then had a plot develop around them. o.o

Either way, the whole relationship thing confused me greatly.

On the ACTUAL topic, I think Perrin, Mat, and Rand went a little too far in the "person x knows more about women than me" thing. I mean, practically every chapter in some books... and the women always complain about how stupid their men are, or wool-headed or whatever. Is that why they spend more time with each other?

Too right - that annoyed me!!! I bet RJ thought he was being really funny!

Although..in a bity I read not an hour ago on the train home from work, the Amrylin Seat (or whaever she's called..sounds like a car to me) was complaining about men behave when they're ill..(Mat being a sickly poisoned by sparkly thinged fool) it rang true with me!

Lol. That does ring true.

On another note- I finished the fourth book! 4am last night. I'm feeling very pleased with myself- and I can't wait to read the next one, although I'll have to because I need to start doing some work! But it'll be my post-exam treat, I reckon.

Shes called Suian Sanche - how does that sound like a car??!

Not the lady as such, but her title..'Drive the Seat Amryrlin..it's great and has a big boot' type of thing

lol, i still haven't finished the last book thats out. I'm like halfway through it, but I blame school and world of warcraft. ha ha

tg

Interesting idea for a car name, very british thinking, lol

Maybe you could do a whole range of Robert Jordan named cars. I mean if we're going down that road, I reckon an 'Aes Sedai' would be a pretty cool name for a car...

'The Rand', greta at the begining, a good reliable family car, eventually breaks down totally and must be sold for parts.

"Lews Therin T" model; extremely powerful and beats all other cars on the road, but will eventually go mad and endanger you and your loved ones before completely breaking down in a rather large and dangerous fashion.

However, it will come to haunt your new Rand car for a while afterwards - not that you'll ever know. =P

Hmmmmmm.... what about........

.....the Cadsuane, 'just keeps going.... and going... and going.......... You'll be WANTING it to break down before long!!!!'

im just Glad someone else has read the books enough to make jokes......although i have a sneaking suspicion that Jordan will die before he finishes this series and i will probably go insane.....oh well life, life i guess.
