Up to 1000 people are expected to converge on Flock Hill Station near Arthurs Pass this spring to film the climactic battle scene from C. S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Andrew Adamson, the director of “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” spoke with the New Zealand Herald about the film, and filmmaking in general. They plan to stay true to the spirit of the book, rather than the book itself. Sounds a lot like how the Lord of the Rings was filmed to me.

The couple advertised horses for sale in a horse trading publication. A woman called and told them she had looked everywhere for a white horse, about 15 hands high, for a role in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, soon to be filmed in New Zealand… …Ms Sudbury was told George would play the part of the unicorn and she understands he will be ridden by the wicked witch in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

We’ve gotten ahold of a few more banners from the New York Licensing Show! They feature production art of The White Witch, her castle, Aslan, a Unicorn, a boy, possibly Edmund or Peter, a Narnian Army, and another Narnian that goes unnamed. This is a very exciting time.

They begin filming on 28 June, with about 2/3 of the production based
in Auckland. Then head to the South Island around mid-October to
complete filming. The movie opens in the States in December, 2005,
with many international territories also opening day-and-date.

Disney had new artwork on Banners to promote The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe at the New York L!censing 2004 Show. Very cool banners featuring Aslan, what looks like an early design of a Narnian character, a Unicorn, and The Witch’s Castle.

Waitakere City Council has no problems allowing a pack of 10 North American wolves onto its turf to be filmed as “witches minions” for the C.S. Lewis classic The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Disney Consumer Products will be at the annual L!CENSING 2004 International in New York City from June 8-10 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center showing their material for for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
