Four Days of Narnia! with Jars of Clay and Bethany Dillon
Over the past week, I’ve been doing some pretty heavy promoting of the Chronicles of Narnia. I worked at the Narnia booth at UnityFest 2005 in Muskegon, Michigan, handing out Narnia Passports and showing the trailer and behind the scenes material. I also had the opportunity to meet some bands, one of whom is involved in the Narnia Inspired Soundtrack, and another artist that is also involved. I’ve also heard the songs that they have contributed to the album, which hits stores on September 27th.

Narnia Composer Gregson-Williams’ Kingdom of Heaven Score out today
Harry Gregson-Williams’ score for Kingdom of Heaven, a taste of things to come? Along with every solo instrument –and Gregson-Williams does seem to have done his homework here– nothing in the ensemble is ever able to overpower the chorus, however, and it’s the Howard Shore-like moments of beauty from The Lord of the Rings that make this score shine.

HarperCollins Puts Big Money Behind “Chronicles of Narnia”
The first trailer will be released in theatres in April with a global marketing and publicity campaign building towards the December 9 launch. The world premiere will take place at the Royal Albert Hall [link] on December 7, with parts of the adjacent Hyde Park transformed into a “winter wonderland” scene for the premiere.

The Chronicles of Narnia and Philosophy
Coming out in Sept./Oct. 2005 is “The Chronicles of Narnia and Philosophy.” Edited by Gregory Bassham and Jerry L. Walls, this is a collection of essays about the Chronicles, with topics ranging from Belief, Doubt and Knowing, to Ethics, Metaphysics, and Religion. It’s another book in the Popular Culture and Philosophy series that includes “The Simpsons and Philosophy,” “Seinfeld and Philosophy,” and “The Matrix and Philosophy,” and recently “Lord of the Rings and Philosophy” and “Harry Potter and Philosophy.” Some of the books are currently in use in University classes.
