From Narnia to Mount Olympus

Actor Liam Neeson is best known to NarniaFans as the voice of Aslan, and has played other notable roles ranging from Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Bruce Wayne’s mysterious mentor Henri Ducard in Batman Begins, and real life hero Oskar Schindler in the Academy Award â„¢ winning Schindler’s List. Now, he and Schindler’s List co-star Ralph Fiennes have signed on to go head to head once again in an upcoming remake of Clash of the Titans.

Neeson has signed on to play Zeus in an upcoming remake of the 1981 Ray Harryhausen film, while Fiennes ( who played the SS Officer Amon Göth in List and voices Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter films) will play Hades: Lord of the Underworld. Coincidentally while Neeson lends his voice to The Great Lion, Aslan, Fiennes voiced Jesus in ABC’s The Miracle Maker back in 1998.

The plot will deliniate a bit from the original film, mainly as Hades was not in it. From the sounds of the summaries, Hades role will be somewhat similar to the one the character had in Disney’s Hercules where he was conspiring to overthrow Zeus.

The Clash of the Titans remake is directed by Louis Leterrier ( last years Incredible Hulk.) and will also star Sam Worthington ( the upcoming Terminator: Salvation) as Perseus and Alexa Devalos as Andromeda. It is slated for release in the spring of 2010.

  1. Haha how appropriate. Aslan vs Voldemort! It’s like the most well-known fantasy god character against the most well-known fantasy evil character!
