Locals Flock to Dawn Treader Filming

The Bayside Bulletin has a report on the filming of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader last week at Cleveland Point. Locals were invited to watch the filming, and they indeed came out to watch. Some even spotted Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley on set!

Dawn Treader FilmingBirkdale mother Lyn Fullerton went down to Cleveland Point to check out the action with daughters Sarah and Bethany.

“It’s an educational experience, so I’m not worried she’s missing a day of school!” Mrs Fullerton said of Year 9 student Bethany.

“We’ve been planning it for a while and coming down regularly to check on the progress.”

Sarah said they had spotted a number of young stars of the film, including characters King Caspian (Ben Barnes), Lucy Pevensie (Georgie Henley) and Skandar Keynes (Edmund Pevensie).

“We were very happy fans to see them, but we weren’t planning on mobbing them!” Sarah laughed.

“I don’t think they’ve even bothered with bodyguards because we’re so laid back here.”

Bethany said she’d also spotted centaurs and various other mythical creatures around the set.

Redland Bay residents Denise and Bob Woosnam brought their guests from Christchurch, New Zealand, Arlene and Peter Sowman, to see the set as part of showing them around town.

“I’d heard about it but we hadn’t seen the set until today, and it’s a lot bigger and busier than we’d expected,” Mrs Woosnam said.

“My grandkids Jay, 7, and Charlie, 4, were down here last week and they said to me: ‘Grandma! You have to see it!’, so here we are!”

“It’s magnificent, it’s a shame our grandkids can’t see it, it’s always more fun when you can watch the grandkids’ reactions!” Mr Sowman said.

Michele Wied and Nat Evans came down from Currimundi to visit family who told them to swing by Cleveland Point.

“We’ve never seen a film set before so it’s quite exciting, we were very surprised to find out it was all happening down here,” Ms Wied said.

  1. I wish I lived in Australia. THEY NEVER DO STUFF LIKE THAT HERE IN MINNESOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(

    • Yahh I know, they never do anyhting like that here in Ontario, Ca. either, but that would be awsome to see!

  2. They film movies here in Oregon, but I haven’t gone to see them in action. I was asked to be an extra in a movie, but I didn’t feel like it at the time (all I would have done was sit in a restruant while the camera filmed the actors. I didn’t want to waste a good Saturday).

  3. I’m a lucky duck living and working close to the site. Must admit haven’t been to see the filming yet, but have seen the ship up close and personal. It is awesome, and amazingly large! Some of my staff and customers have been down and they’re really loving it.

As you say it is a once in a lifetime chance to see something like this.
