NarniaFans Mailbag #45

As many of you may know, our fearless webmaster, Paul is currently on vacation and cannot respond to the mailbag. However since he’s been gone, the mail has piled up on the kitchen counter here at NarniaFans. After cleaning out the fridge, I figured I’d hold up some of your letters to the light and see what you all sent in and answer for him.

Hello my name is Lucy. I live near Cleveland where the set for the voyage of the dawn treader is being made, and I love Narnia. I realised, that I look like Georgie Henley (Lucy) and I was wondering if she needs an understudy because I would love to be it. I can talk English, I look like her and I have acting experience in movies and ads. It would be such a delight if you wrote back. Thanks you! -Lucy (that IS my real name)

Unfortunately, we do not have any power in cast/crew selections like that. Also, while Georgie may need a body double, or a stunt double, she wouldn’t need an understudy. Those are only employed in stage, not film. The main reason for that is if someone gets sick or hurt during the production of a movie they can shoot the scenes they won’t need them in while they recover, but you don’t have that luxury on stage. Sorry! Best of luck in your acting endeavors. -Jonathon

Hey just wondering i live in Australia and wanted to no when the Dawn treader premiere was? i really want to go…me and best friend are so obsessed…anyway if you know please let me know. thank you very much – Harmony.

I just did some checking on that one and Voyage of the Dawn Treader should premier in “The Land Down Under” on December 9th. Lucky Ausies. -Jonathon

I was wondering if and when they were coming out with a new movie? -Lacian

Your question has a two part answer: First , yes there will be a new movie, and Voyage of the Dawn Treader is currently in production. Second it will be released in the States on December 10th. -Jonathon

    • yah i was worried!! some weird questions tho!! guess that one girl didn’t know she wasn’t contacting the actors for the film!! haha. and she said she saw both movies twice…well, not to make her feel bad, but i’ve seen LWW atleast a dozen, and PC between 30 and 40!!!!!! and i can quote PC almost although thru w/o any peeks! i even wrote myself a script for it. yah, i’m like the ultimate over-the-top fan 😉

      • Yeah, and she said she was obsessed! lol I’ve not seen it 30 or 40 times, but ive seen it about a dozen times 😛

  1. Whilst we are on the mailbag, could i possibly ask a quick question? Are you in the market for a new website background? The current Prince Caspian DVD one seems a bit “last year” lol, and i know plenty of people out there who would absolutely love the chance to design a Voyage of the Dawn Treader themed one for the site! 🙂

  2. 30 or 40?!?!?!?! WOW, I’ve only seen it 15 times! *makes note to watch PC this weekend*

Wow, the people who asked the questions had to have been around 6 years old! xP

  3. Wow! 30 or 40 times seen PC-
I’ve only seen it about 10 or 11 times, while LWW is on the top with maybe about 15-20. [When it was in theaters, I saw it twice!]

  4. Does this make me the only one that has actually seen both Narnia movies only once in theatres?

  5. No, CaspianGirl. I only saw each one once in theaters too…but since I own LWW, I’ve watched it countless times at home. PC, only about 3 at other people’s houses. You’re not alone. 🙂

  6. I’ve seen both once in theatres, LWW about six and a half times on DVD, and PC about three times on DVD. I like the movies, but I’m considerably more of a bookverse fan… lost count of how many times I’ve read.

And I suddenly find myself inspired to try to think of some intelligent mailbag questions.

  7. Saw LWW nine times in the theater. Prince Caspian six times in the theater. Now almost five years later I’ve seen LWW over 110 times (not joking) and PC at least 50. Am I obsessed or what? Can’t wait ’til VDT. December 10th 2010 can’t come quick enough for me.

  8. yes, four of the times i (i’m the 30-40 pc girl!!) saw pc was in the theater. however, i didn’t see lww in theater. but i don’t like that one as much, so that’s why i haven’t seen it as many times. but yes, lily of archenland, i do love the books. much better than any movie. it’s just it’s so fun when your favorite books get put on a screen in front of you, especially when they’re so well done. i’ve probably read the whole series 6 or 7 times. but i remember almost everything i read (when i like it, that is!!) so i have to wait at least a year in between readings otherwise it all sounds to fresh!! wow, that was a long comment 🙂

  9. omg!! just saw servent of aslans comment! gosh…110 and 50 times! that’s like so crazy!! but i can’t make fun of you cuz eventually i’ll be there myself!! haha 🙂

  10. yah, my family makes fun of me for being such an over-the-top fan. i have to remind them that some people are worse (better?) than me!!! but yah, i was kinda shocked by those mailbag ?s!!!!

  11. You pople are accually gonna fight over who watches witch movie more!

Servant of Aslan- I’m not going to dought on paper that you watched the movies that much but over a 110 times for LWW (Prince Caspian is a far better movie) and only 50 for PC, that is sad. BUT think, you watched the two movies togeter over 160 times, each movie being TWO and a HALF hours long. Witch means you sat on ass 400 hours. Do your self a favour and only watch VDT while your doing jumping jacks!

  12. i wouldn’t say we’re fighting! we are simply finding other weirdos like ourselves!! haha! no, jk, none of us are weirdos (well, maybe only slightly…i mean, 400 hrs, he’s got a point!!). no, seriously though, i thinks it’s super interesting to know how many times you can watch one movie and that there ARE other people out there who are like totally in obsessed with Narnia! i love this site and all us crazy fans 😀

    • by the way I’m a girl. I thought you would get that from the BEN BARNES LOVER inless I’m gay!

  13. BenBarnesLover–I was pretty sure you were female, but if you weren’t it could’ve been an alternate definition of “lover” rather than gay-ness. After all, there’s “lover of truth” not meaning romantic interest in truth, and I doubt Tolkien’s Valandil (definition: lover of the Valar) expected to get a date with an angelic guardian…

  14. wow! there are so many ppl that are more obsessed with narnia than i thought. must watch narnia more now. so disappointing that filming finished at cleveland point though. i went there almost everyday (i blame university for the days i missed of precious narnia filming) and got so many great memories from it. i wished they were still filming at cleveland point though. it was such a great ship!!! and it was cool to see all the cast members in real life and not on the screen. i wish i got an autograph 🙁

  15. No it’s not, but it’s a HELL yof a lot of FUN for me, you I really don’t care about!

You see when I saw that the person had wrote that they watched LWW 110 times and PC 50, well sorry but I couldn’t resist. And when you wrote back dissing me about doing some math, again I couldn’t resist. By the way DIS ME AGAIN and I’LL THROUGH IT BACK IN YOUR FACE!

OH yahh! I couldn’t help but noticing that you didn’t argue about needing more math classes……!

    SO DO YOU!!!!!

  16. ok woah people!! we started out with a friendly conversation about the number of times we’ve watched narnia/pc! how’d we get on the topic of who needs more education! i’m confused!

btw, benbarneslover, i really never look at the names…just the comments. so sry bout that…no offense intended 🙂 i also am a girl and i totally gotcha 🙂 and i agree w/ u about the hair!!!!!!!

  17. yah we’re a little over the top aren’t we!! but that’s SO cool u were @ cleveland point!! so lucky!! i wish i coulda gone 🙁

  18. the above comment was for Jessica. for some reason the little reply button isn’t workin for me

  19. BenBarnesLover–Sorry, didn’t mean to go “all textbook” on ya. I was just explaining my point of view… and taking an excuse to bring my Tolkien fandom into a Narnia comment. :p

And I would never have thought of bringing up the “gay” possibility without you making a point of talking about it first. And yes, I know you’re not. I got that the first time.

  20. Woww!! I’ve just been reading all the comments and I’m still trying to process them!!LOL. it’s incredible that you’ve watched the films so many times,I am a real fan of Narnia but omg!! i’ve only watched LWW 8 times, and PC 4 times.

U know, it’s so great that we can all shear our opinions on something we all like and are obsessed about !! I love it !! haha LOL!

to jessica: wow it must have been quite something to be at cleveland point and to see all the actors … WOW WOW !! I would have loved to go but I live in Spain and it’s rather impossible to convince my parents to travel to the other side of the world just to see the making of a film LOL.

do you know where they will be filming now?

  21. Good to see you on!
    May I call you Judy?

I totally understand about the spelling mistakes. I’d hate to see what my spelling would look like if I tried posting a comment on a website in a language that wasn’t my first. >.<

  22. My friends and I made v of the d t shirts; on the back they say “checkin the gate” (get it?) People always ask us what they mean.

  23. HI!! yeah, it’s fine by me if you call me Judy =)

thanks for the spelling mistakes thing !!

English is my first language really, but of corse it’s my first spoken language, not writen language so thanks for understanding my tragic situation LOL =o!!

I love this website don’t you?

    • I know what you mean, all of my friends make fun of me because I spend so much time on this site. It’s like every time I turn around they’re telling me to “Get a LIFE”. I just ignore them because their all obsessed with Twilight and EDWARD. The funny thing is they inly like Edward and not Robert Pattison, Like get your story straight for once. Now their going to make me watch Twilight because I haven’t seen it yet, just so I can go see NEW MOON with them! YAHHHH! not….

  24. WilliamLover–it’s superiority of the Narnia books as a math equation. Red, “Narnia is greater than Twilight.”

  25. I really don’t understand how people can prefer twilight to NARNIA! really narnia is so much better!!
I can’t say anything about the books because I haven’t read twilight, but everyone has their own opinions so never mind…
The only reason why I want to se New Moon, is because Dakota Fanning is in it, and I love her as an actress!
But if I had to say the reasons why I want to watch VDT and the rest of the Narnia films, This comment would be VEEEEEEERY VEEEEEEERY long!! LOL
