Ben Barnes talks ‘Dawn Treader,’ Premiere

Ben Barnes recently took part in an interview with Jo Parkerson from LBC Radio to talk about his role in the play Birdsong, but the conversation later turns to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Because of his duties with the play, Ben says that he plans on attending the red carpet for the World Premiere, after which he will head over to perform in Birdsong. He hopes to make it to the after party when he finishes his role that evening, though.

Narniaweb, who was informed of this interview, writes: Ben also discusses his role in the action scenes from Prince Caspian and Dawn Treader. He indicates that while there is less action in the latter film, he is more personally involved in it than in his previous jaunt to Narnia. Ben also mentions various sundries such as falling down rooftops and a scene involving King Caspian forced to fight foes with a pair of handcuffs, referring to it as an “archaic Jason Bourne” scene.

  1. Cool! I am picturing Caspian fighting off some evil islanders! Here’s what I get from that: maybe it was when they got taken prisoner by the slave traders or something. Then Caspian tries to fight the slavers off or something. But that might also mean that it would give them a good reason to go away from the book by Caspian fighting to get free. Oh well, I want to see the movie!!!!!

  2. OK…I love Jason Bourne and I love King Caspian…but not them combined!!! This is not supposed to be some huge action film. Oh, well. I have given up hoping that the movies will live up to the books and the way C.S. Lewis intended and I am just trying to look forward to the movie as a movie. And not focus on it being Narnia. 🙁

    • I think Ben was just saying how the action scene is. If you’ve seen any of the Star Wars movies, such as Episode III, when Obi-Wan and Anakin are captured and brought before Grievous, they do some cool moves to become free of their handcuffs. Sounds like that’s what this will be: a maneuver for Caspian to become free from his handcuffs. Don’t worry about it.

      • Yeah…know what you are saying, but I was referring to all of it really. Soooo different! You hardly hear anything about the 7 missing lords who are supposed to be a big part of it. But, thanks for pointing that out. 🙂

        • Um, the missing lords are a huge part of it…. remember all the “7 sword” stuff and the “saving Narnia” we’ve been hearing about? 🙂

          • Yes, I see! 🙂 What I was saying was that it kinda just seems like the story is not longer just looking for the lords…it’s more a bunch of stuff and the lords on the side. But! I am waiting to see the movie…hope I am wrong. 🙂

  4. They’ve done a pretty good job so far of staying true to the spirit of the books… Dawn Trader was always my very favorite, so I hope they continue doing so!
