Grace Hill Media has launched, after many months of work, NarniaFaith.com! It is a resource for faithful people and leaders alike. It features essays from Narnia scholars as well as C.S. Lewis’ stepson – Douglas Gresham! Here’s a breakdown of each of the three sections that the site has at the moment.
Learn: There, you can travel to the world of Narnia and discover The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Find out about the book’s adaptation to film and gain insight into the extraordinary life of C.S. Lewis. There’s much to see – the film’s trailer and images from the production. There’s much to read – an essay from Douglas Gresham about his step-father, a synopsis of the upcoming film and the history of Walden’s quest for Narnia.
Teach: Narnia Faith’s TEACH Section is a extraordinary collection of sermon outlines, study guides, and youth materials created by respected and influential pastors and Christian organizations. From a study guide on the life and works of C.S. Lewis, to how to talk to your children about Narnia, to sermons addressing temptation, courage, and redemption, we hope these free resources help ministry professionals worldwide connect to the lessons and themes of C.S. Lewis’ timeless story, “The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader” to their congregations.
Engage: With the worldwide release of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, there are a variety of ways you can use the release of this film to impact your church, your community and the world. Host a Narnia Night at your church, an outreach event which celebrates the life and theology of C.S. Lewis. Plan a Family Fun Night so kids can learn about the real meaning of Aslan. Or you can even join in the fun of Operation Narnia and pack shoe boxes full of gifts which will be distributed worldwide by Operation Christmas Child – and impact the life of a child for eternity.
So take a look around – and then engage. Aslan is indeed on the move! We’re very excited about this great resource, because it can take you deeper into the story of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and perhaps show you a side of it that you never saw before. When you look around, you’ll probably notice a few things by our friend, Dr. Devin Brown! He’s the author of the recently released book Inside The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
That’s awesome!
Great!!! 🙂
I loved the previews, but what is all that witch stuff? That’s not in the book! To me that takes a lot of the joy and excitement out of the movie. Will someone please make the movie like the book? It has enough excitement as it is.
Though I do not share the same faith as C.S. Lewis, I have great respect for the man himself both for his breathtaking fiction and the way he practiced his faith and tolerance in life. In particular, Lewis’ reported support of his stepson David’s choice to adopt his mother’s Jewish faith and his generous acts of charity.
While I could never be certain (obviously) what Lewis’ thoughts would be on certain specifics of contemporary issues, I find it off-putting to see contemporary religious figures speaking in a seeming official capacity in relation to this film series.
Graham referred to Islam as “a very evil and wicked religion.”
Richard Mouw voted for California’s Proposition 8 banning marriage between people of the same gender and wrote a Newsweek article about it.
Even as an agnostic, I enjoy listening to Douglas Gresham speak about his faith, and if there is going to be a Narnia Faith website, I would prefer he be the voice. Seeing two person’s whom have expressed discriminatory views in the public square represent Narnia and this film series is disturbing to say the least.
The things of the Spirit can only be understood by those who have the Holy Spirit. I encourage you to read the book of John in the Bible and begain to seek truth for yourself.
May God bless and lead you.
