The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Rated PG

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has been rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).

Rated PG For some frightening images and sequences of fantasy action.

This doesn’t just mean that the film has a rating. This also means that the film is now complete. The Classification and Rating Administration (CARA) will issue a rating only after the Rating Board has viewed the completed motion picture.

Congrats to the team behind the film! We can’t wait to see the final product ourselves!

  1. That is great that it is done. In a way i was hoping that it would be PG-13, but PG is good to. I think that a Narnia film being rated PG-13 would be just a little to much and for that i will be happy for PG!

    • I’m VERY glad it’s PG…. these are supposed to be children’s stories, after all. I want my little siblings to be able to enjoy watching it right along with me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hooray for it being done! Can’t wait for December!

      • I hope they stick to PG on these movies because, as you said, it would be cool if they were PG-13 but It mostly should be for the younger crowd! and I was so mad that the whole star wars series was PG until the 3rd one and that was rated PG-13! I was mad, and those movies aren’t even for kids!

    • I do think The Last Battle could be rated PG-13 (though I’d hope the action would be light for such a rating). It’s the most violent book, and they need to make Tash really fearsome. However, there is no excuse for rating the next three anything more than PG. It would only make them less successful at the box office, and THESE ARE CHILDREN’S BOOKS being made into CHILDREN’S FILMS.

  2. Harry Potter’s final films are PG-13. So this will be more family oriented during the holidays.

    • If you have, it’s likely that they were re-submitted for rating after completion and got the same rating. I read through the rules on the MPAA website, and it makes it very clear that they must watch the completed film before they will grant a rating to the film.

There’s also the fact that Michael Apted said at a presentation that they were only two weeks away from the completion of the film, and that was a little more than three weeks ago.

  3. AWESOME………..The voyage is just 50 days away..Though God knows how I’ll wait that long….Great work…Happy it’s in PG.. ๐Ÿ™‚

HURRY DEC 10..SAIL ON VDT..ASLAN IS ON THE MOVE.. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. cool!!! i was going back and forth between whether i thought it sould be PG or PG-13. but i’ve decided that PG is best. so yay!!!!!

  5. Why would you want a movie to be PG-13? So it will have more violence, language, drug use and nudity? Since these are stories for children, let’s keep stuff out that children don’t need to see or hear! Yea for another PG family-friendly movie!

  6. I am so glad it is PG. After just reading thorough the Dawn treader with my 9year old she is really wanting to see it. If it was PG 13 i would not be able to take her. There really is no need for such a rating or to make it so it would be necessary for a PG13 rating. As some of you have said CS Lewis created this book for children. He would be much disappointed if the films were kept for the adults.
