Erie library breathes new life into C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis, celebrated author of more than 30 books for adults and children, is regarded as one of the most influential Christian writers of recent times. Performing as Lewis is Dr. Kevin Radaker, a professor at Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana. This program, held on August 3 at 6:30 pm in Erie, is part of the High Plains Chautauqua.

The High Plains Library District’s Chautauqua series will present “C.S. Lewis Live” at the library, 400 Powers St. The series brings in literature experts-turned-actors to present in character as famous authors.

Last year, a re-enactor played the part of Edgar Allen Poe during a Chautauqua stop at Erie Community Library. Library director Tony Brewer said he anticipates another standing-room-only crowd for the C.S. Lewis presentation in the library’s “living room.”

“I expect there will be a good crowd for this one, given the popularity of C.S. Lewis,” said Brewer, who noted the Erie performance will differ from High Plains’ C.S. Lewis program conducted in Greeley. “It’s really fascinating how they do this. They come on dressed as the character and they’ve taken on this person’s persona. They don’t even act like the person they really are while they’re here. He’ll present on the life of C.S. Lewis, then there will be a time when the audience can ask questions and he will respond in the character of C.S. Lewis.”

Kevin Radaker, a professor and chair of the English department at Anderson University in Indiana, will play the part of Lewis. Radaker has also played the part of Henry David Thoreau in the Chautauqua series.

Scooter informed us in the comments that the library is located in Erie, Colorado, USA.

I mean, I feel bad for the people who don’t come to this website because although there isn’t always SUPER EXCITING stuff, there is still good articles. And also, if you didn’t come to this website, when would you know when the next Narnia movie WOULD come out? I think Paul and the others are doing a fine job and working their best at uncovering stuff we’d like to read about.
