Netflix Confirms Narnia as Film’s Working Title and Reveals Producing Team

Netflix

Update: We have reached out to someone we know who is connected to the production and Narnia is the working title, but stay tuned for the official title announcement.

The way it has been positioned on all of the Netflix pages lead us to believe that it was simply going to be called “Narnia” but honestly… that title didn’t make much sense to me.

And so we wait. My guess is it’ll be “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew” or something like that.

Original Story follows:

In its latest Tudum blog post, Netflix has quietly confirmed two concrete details about its upcoming Greta Gerwig–directed Narnia film: the official title and the producing team behind it.

According to Netflix, the film’s title will simply be Narnia, positioning it as the opening entry in the streamer’s planned cinematic journey through The Chronicles of Narnia, adapted from the works of C.S. Lewis.

The post also confirms that the film is produced by Greta Gerwig, alongside Mark Gordon, Amy Pascal, and Vincent Sieber-Smith. Serving as executive producers are Douglas Gresham and Melvin Adams on behalf of the C.S. Lewis Estate, with Patty Whitcher also listed in an executive producing role.

While Netflix has previously announced Gerwig’s involvement as writer and director, this post marks the clearest confirmation to date of the full producing lineup and the film’s official name. The choice to title the movie simply Narnia suggests an intentional, foundational approach—establishing the world itself before signaling any specific book or storyline.

Beyond the title and producers, the article does not offer new information about casting, plot, or which of the seven books will be adapted first. The film remains scheduled for an IMAX theatrical release in November 2026, followed by a Netflix debut in December.

For now, the confirmation of the title and creative leadership provides fans with a clearer framework for what Netflix is building, even as many of the project’s most anticipated details remain under wraps.

As further updates are shared, NarniaFans will continue tracking what we know,  and what’s still to come, from the world beyond the wardrobe.
