Ugh! I can't get caught up enough! I will have to start watching the new ones next season! But now I see that Clara is Oswin from Ayslum of the Daleks and The Snowmen. I watched it -- it was so good! Snow with memories ... And I loved Clara/Oswin, but how is she there? And how didn't she remember the Doctor? Or did she?! "Run you clever boy, run and remember ..." It was very amazing!

I also love Madame Vestra and her partner and their Strax, is that his name? What an awesome trio, and that Strax guy cracks me up. I loved The Snowmen episode. But now, how does the Doctor find a living Clara -- which he must, because y'all are talking about her.

But Amazon is charging $1.99 an episode for this season's new programs, and I can't at the moment work them into my budget, but I don't want to start taping the new ones on TV until I can see them all in order. It's killing me!

I love Doctor Who now. He's cool. :)

Bummer! I know how badly you want to get caught up so.... you should check your email @jesusandjaxyworld.com. Really. Oh, and you should tape the episodes anyway, that way you can watch them later and you won't have to buy them.

Sorry to double post

But I am so happy to report that thanks to BK I will be able to see the existing episodes of season 7 this week!

Thank you fellow Whovian!!!!!

I am so excited! Wish I didn't have to work today ...

:D:D:D

The way I got caught up so quickly (I started season 1 in... January?) was that I used a website called Tubeplus. It has most of the episodes. Not sure about the new ones (with Clara), but it has pretty much all of the older ones. Except for the last ones with 10. It didn't have Planet of the Dead (had to record that on TV), and it didn't have The End of Time (had to record that one on TV too!). I think it had the Waters of Mars, though.

Thanks Rainshadow! I think I watched The Snowmen on that. :)
Amazon has Dr Who seasons 1-6 and the specials prior to The Snowmen for free streaming to Prime members, which I am, so I watched them all on Kindle. But once it got to season 7, you had to pay for them -- I got a bargain on the first 5 episodes for $6, but then I ran out of money until at least next month (curse you Dave Ramsey!). Thankfully BK stepped in and helped me out so I can see the final episodes of this season! Yay!!! I am so happy ... :)

As you get caught up, you'll see that even the Doctor doesn't really know who or what mystery Clara really is. From what I gather by watching the past episodes, the Clara Oswin that died in the Asylum of the Daleks, the one that died in The Snowmen, and the current companion are (supposedly) all the same girl!

Right, how is that possible? It's so crazy! But I like her, she is a fabulous companion. But I like all the companions ... I forgot to say, what I loved in "The Girl Who Waited" with Amy was how they made her look older, her face. Her face looked just like mine when she was 36 years older! They did a remarkable job aging her. OK, back to the new episodes:

**Season 7, Part 2 Spoilers**

I am loving these new episodes, thank you BK! The Bells of St Johns was a fantastic episode. I loved that the Doctor found Clara. I saw the little prequel where he met her as a child and didn't recognize her; I assume that he took that little girl's advice and went to a quiet room to think about where he'd lost her, and that's how he was at the monastery? Anyway, that was a cool episode. The best part was how he hacked the walking wifi hub that looked like him, so clever. And, ok, so Clara became an insane hacker (which she claimed to be in Asylum of the Daleks) because they partially uploaded her? That gave her all the hacking ability ... That was a great explanation for it. Sort of -- I wish I knew how she went from epoch to epoch! Oh, I also loved the Doctor's excited utterances when he was trying to fly that plane -- "I'm an alien, I'm a thousand years old, I have two hearts, and I don't know how to fly a plane!" That was hysterical.

The Rings of Akhaten was delightful. The Doctor told Clara he'd been there with his grand-daughter ... It's cool how they remind us of his past incarnations (even though I never knew him with a granddaughter) -- but it shows you he's so much older than he looks and acts. The story line of the singing to keep the old god asleep was very imaginative, and that old mummy that woke up when the singing stopped was very scary. But I liked to much when the Doctor was telling the little girl why she was special, because of all that had gone into the creation of her, from thousands of years before she was born ... he sort of made a whole theological discussion of creation right there in those few sentences ... very deep and lovely. And Clara's giving the old god her most important leaf in the world -- it was beautiful.

The Cold War. This was awesome. Who doesn't love a show set on a submarine? I am a great fan of this ridiculous old war movie with Robert Mitchum and Kurt Jurgen called "The Enemy Below," and that's of course what this one reminded me of. And of course it was a lot like Hunt for Red October, too, because they were Russians. The Ice Warrior was very scary, and I so loved that his people did come to get him! What a hopeful ending.

**End Spoilers **

I wanted to watch another episode last night, but it was getting late, so I didn't get to "Hide" yet, but it looks very spooky! I wish I would get caught up -- but I won't make it in time to catch the last (I think the last?) episode of the season this week. Did you hear there are protests in England because people don't want to know the name of the Doctor? It's so cool!

I'm at national Academic Decathlon competition right now, and one of our challenges on a scavenger hunt was to find the TARDIS! No one seems to have found it, but it made everyone start talking about Doctor Who. It was really fun, and we all made a lot of new friends over it. I met people from Indiana, Idaho, Nebraska, Russia, Asia, and even London from talking about Doctor Who together. It's so cool how a show can do that!

That's fantastic Laurel! How fun! :)

Wait, are there more shows than just one left this season?

I watched HIDE last night -- very cool! I loved the little romance between Emma and Professor, and the revelation of who the time traveler is -- and the surprise at the end. Also did you notice the Dr says the monster is "seeking whom he may devour"? That's a scriptural description of the devil!

Now, am I caught up to the TV show? I have to make sure Tivo is taping it ... More later.

You are definitely caught up! The next episode is this Saturday at 8:00 on the BBC America (in the US). I think it's going to be even better than Hide, which I think it's the best episode of this series so far.

And about the so called "protests," there is this image making the rounds of the Doctor Who Fandom. The image is fake. It is a photoshopped version of this real protest of 2009 G20... something.

I tuned in on BBC 45 minutes before it started because I was so thrilled!
*spoilers* What a GREAT episode this was!! And what a bizar twist. Now I wanna get my hands on that book!!!!! I wonder who wrote it :D

Oh man! I was away from home all weekend, I will try to catch the encore version of the latest episode! I can't believe I am caught up and can't believe I missed the new episode which everyone apparently loves!!!

And thanks BK for debunking that whole Name of Dr Who protest thing! I should not believe everything I read on FB ... :) I will get back after I see the new episode ...
:)

So I come back after a year-long absence and find this thread. :D
Anyway, Doctor Who was one of those shows that was just sitting in my Netflix Instant Que for several months until last summer I decided to start watching it. I was instantly hooked. Now I need to go to bed! I've been up all night studying for finals! Alons-y!

I know! I had been hearing about Dr Who for a long time, and I finally just watched an episode on my Kindle one night because I was too tired to read, and my friends here had told me all about the modern episodes and which one to start with ... and I too was instantly hooked! Love it. :)

And welcome back, KingCaspian! Nice to see you here!

I saw it finally, very crazy episode! But yah, so does Clara now know the Doctor's name, or did she forget it?

And -- who wrote the book? Would the Doctor write it? And for whom? Himself? But why would he put his name in it, his big secret, if he just leaves it lying around where his companions would find it? Or, did someone else write it -- like River Song, because she's an archaeologist and studied it all out? But again ... why would she have written the Doctor's secret name? It seems kind of funny.

I'm so happy to be caught up! But I can't record or watch the programs when they first air because my husband is watching something else, but I have them set to tape the encore broadcasts later that night. Yay!
