Lucy opened Peter’s door when they got there. “You know Peter; he always had to be the strong one.” Edmund rolled his eyes. “He still should have told us,” he looked into the room then glanced at Cara. “I’ll wait here,” Cara said, forcing a smile. Ed nodded slowly. “I’ll be right back.” He walked into Peter’s room and closed the door behind him.
Peter opened his eyes as the door closed. “Lucy told you,” he said quietly when he saw his brother. Ed nodded as she walked closer. “Yes, why didn’t you tell us?” Peter sighed, “I thought I was fine, I didn’t want Lu and Su to worry.” Ed pulled a chair over to the side of his brother’s bed. “How bad is it?” He asked quietly. Peter moved slightly. “I have to rest for a few days then not do and physical activity for a few weeks.” Ed smiled slightly, “that bad huh? You’re going to go crazy.” Peter laughed, “I know, could you get me some books from the library?” Ed nodded, “sure. Put your not working.” Peter sighed, “fine.” Ed stood up. “I’ll bring you books in the morning, good night Pete.” Peter smiled slightly, “Ed, tell Cara that I need to talk to her.” Ed looked at him curiously, but nodded. He walked out of the room and looked at Cara. “He wants to see you,” he said quietly. Cara looked at the closed door then back at Ed. “Uh, ok,” she walked over to the door and slowly opened it and walked in, closing it behind her.
Peter sat up and smiled slightly at Cara. “Hi.” Cara smiled slightly and walked closer. “Hello your majesty.” Peter rolled his eyes, “its Peter, please sit down.” Cara looked at the chair, then him, then the chair again. She slowly sat down. “Why did you run out of the ballroom?” Peter asked quietly, looking at her. Cara looked down, avoiding his gaze. “I..” she couldn’t lie to him, he’d find out anyway. “I saw him.” Peter looked at her curiously, “him?” He asked. Cara slowly looked up at him. “The knight that killed my family,” she whispered. Peter’s eyes widened, he stared at her for a minute. “Did he see you? What did he look like?” Cara looked down at her hand and fiddled with the fabric of her dress. “I don’t think he saw me.” She brushed off imaginary dirt. “He’s tall, taller than you, dark hair and he has a scar on his cheek.” Peter sighed slightly, he wanted to kick himself. He grilled her for information and didn’t even think about how this affected her. He reached over and covered her hands with his. Cara jerk hear hands away and stood up, staring at him with wide terrified eyes. Peter looked at her shocked by her pulling away. “What’s wrong?” Cara didn’t answer, she just stared at him. Peter slowly stood up, he was thankful he hadn’t changed yet. “Cara, what’s wrong?” Cara stared at him; she could see the bandage on his chest when he moved. “Don’t come any closer,” she said her voice shaky.
Peter stopped, “it’s alright Cara, I won’t hurt you.” Cara stepped back, she obviously didn’t believe him. Her foot caught on the edge of the rug as she stepped back; she lost her balance and started to fall backward. Peter instinctively stepped forward and grabbed her arms before she fell. Cara stared up at him, her expression terrified and confused. Peter stared back at her, his expression equally confused. He had never noticed how beautiful she was before or how many colors were in her eyes. He swallowed slightly. “Are you alright?”
