I agree the books make everyone likable even characters like Grima and Denethor who are positively unlikable in the films. I love how Tolkien creates his characters and unravels the complex history of thier lives. I agree also about Boromir in the books, I loved him like brother and I even wept at his death. As for Faramir he was one of my favorites in the books, second to Aragorn in line of Men. However this was not so in the movies, they almost competely ruined his character or rather his quality of character.
Agreed completely! Well, they didn't ruin him completely for me. He was still one of the best humans (save Aragorn), but i agree with you that they took so much of his goodness and mercy and wisdom away. :(
Thanks Jeff :D It is a kind of inside joke between Lieke and me. She always liked Elrond the most and we made jokes about how bad one of our favorite elves was com pared to the other
Not a joke for me  Dead serious! :p

Elrond is sooo much better than GG, mhuahahahaaaa. GG DIED, can you imagine how bad a fighter he must have been?

It is a pity that Faramir was not granted his full qaulity in the films. :(

lieke I think you would like LOTR Conquest The Game because if features a playable Elrond.

And you know why he died? Because Elrond ran away!!! That's why :p If Elrond had picked up the phone and went to the nearby police station GG would have been saved :p

GG is the best! Too bad you are brainwashed by Elrond!

The Secret Truth is.. Elrond planned GG's death. It was conspiracy with the Dark Lord Sauron.. they made a deal. Elrond took a Ring of Power and in exchange Sauron owed him a favor. :D

So, you're saying that GG wasn't a good enough fighter to be able to fight the orks by himself? He actually needed Elrond? Otherwise he wouldn't have died...

Just to make it clear:D

GG was the BEST fighter! And you know pretty well your silly Elrond escaped only because he was afraid he might have gotten hurt :p So GG was there all alone and fought against the evil of Mordor. If Elrond would have called the cops GG would have been alive today :D Never trust an Elrond :D

Littlgriz, this might interest you:

JRR Tolkien once wrote a letter to someone, in which he commented about Gollum. If he had ever completely regained his "humanity," if he had become truly Smeagol again...and if he had been present when Frodo lost control of himself and put on the Ring...then Gollum would have jumped on Frodo as he does in the existing story, but for a different reason. A redeemed Smeagol would have taken the Ring forcibly from Frodo--TO SAVE HIM.
