Aragorn has been my favorite since first reading the books--in the wrong order (oops!). Not because he became king, but because he was one of the Rangers. "The greatest huntsman in this age of the world" beats royal robes anytime, at least in showing you who the character is inside. First meeting Aragorn as king just wouldn't have been the same.

I also liked Eomer a lot--his temperment kept things interesting. But since he wasn't one of the choices...

I voted for Arwen. I know she doesn't do much in the movies (and even less in the books), but her story is just so beautiful. She loves Aragorn so much that she's willing to give up her eternal life to be with him. It's amazing.

I will say, however, that Gandalf was a close second (for completely different reasons). Gandalf is a totally awesome character, and I always thought it was very cool how he stayed true to his duty, even as the deck was stacking against him. He remained uncorrupted even when the master of his order falls under the shadow. A true insperation.

Legolas was my favorite LOTR-character at first, for no particular reasons.
But now i think i choose Eowyn.
She has such a beautiful and sad appearance in these movies, all the men in her life are going to war and she's destined to stay behind.
And on top of all,the man whom she loves doesn't love her back, really sad,but she does has appearance

Isn't it strange and funny how time can change favorite characters? :D I remember I loved Pippin dearly but during the years it has changed. I never cared much about Eomer but now I think he's pretty cool :D:D Of course in the books he is much cooler.

Hm.....i like a lot of the LOTR characters. If i were to draw up a list:
1.Aragorn-duh!:p What's not to like?
2.Legolas-i love Elves, and Legolas is great in both book and movie.:)
3.Gimli-comic relief that swings an axe. Hosts Who-Can-Kill-The-Most-Orcs contests between him and Legolas. If you know what i'm talking about, see this link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1s4Tr7Ag9M.
It's so funny!
4.Eowyn!!!!!!I love her,and i love Rohan!!!For some reason,Rohan reminds me of Poland.....
5.Eomer-for being the hotheaded hero he is.
And there's probably a few more....

Frodo. Frodo. Frodo. No one but Frodo! :D lol, Well, I have lots of favs, but I'm crazy about him. And then after him, would be the other 3 hobbits. :p

And it looks like the hobbits are winning the pole! :D

Favorite LOTR character?
Hmm, that is a really hard one but I'm gonna have to go with Faramir! :D
He is brave, bold and stood up to his tyrant of a Father. Definitely my man. ;)
Sam is second! :D

Yes, both of those characters are magnificent heroes. In Sam, loyalty stands out especially. In Faramir, it's what you might call balance. Like George Washington, he has the gifts for wartime AND peacetime. If I ever write a Tolkien fanfic, it will be about Faramir's role in making Ithilien a fit place to live again after the death of Sauron.

Definitely. At first I was a bit mad that Aragorn didn't fall in love with Eowyn (Im really anti-Arwen ;) ), but when Faramir came along..it was perfect. I love how they meet in Return of the King and they did it pretty much perfectly in the Return of the King Extended Edition.
I only wish they had given more screen-time for Faramir and Eowyn. Much more intriguing then Aragorn and Arwen's romance. To me, Aragorn and Arwen seem too..perfect. Like they have no flaws and are "made for each other and ohmygoshswoon"..you know?
Does that make any sense to you guys? :p

Exactly. I know what you mean. Eowyn trully loved Aragorn but he (that's also a noble sign) was faithful and loyal to Arwen. But the price Eowyn would get later was so much more worth all this trouble. I still believe Faramir was a much better candidate to her than Aragorn. I trully like Aragorn and Arwen together but their screentime was indeed a bit big. They could have added more time to both Faramir and Eowyn. In the books Faramir kisses Eowyn and I expected this to happen in -at least- the EE.

I wish it did. That's one of my favorite scenes. What it said about their hair mingling in the wind - raven and golden - has stuck in my head since the first time I read it.

You descripe the same scene I have in mind!!!! I so wish this would have been added to the movie. That would made it perfect :D

The first time I watched the movie was getting all exited and thinking to myself "Their going to kiss!" and then it went to the next scene and I wanted to jump up and start yelling but didn't.

The head on his shoulder, to me, was a bit sweeter then a kiss. It signified that kisses are not the only symbol of love. The head on shoulder symbolized that, not only that they had a deep connection, but that they were each others supports. It was really sweet :)
