Littlgriz, this might interest you:

JRR Tolkien once wrote a letter to someone, in which he commented about Gollum. If he had ever completely regained his "humanity," if he had become truly Smeagol again...and if he had been present when Frodo lost control of himself and put on the Ring...then Gollum would have jumped on Frodo as he does in the existing story, but for a different reason. A redeemed Smeagol would have taken the Ring forcibly from Frodo--TO SAVE HIM.

Cool! I didn't know that! Gollum isn't my favorite but I don't not like him. I'll have to remember this.

this is a very interesting thought, joe :)

I voted 'Hobbits'. My favorite characters are Sam, Pippin, and Merry. Frodo...I like him in the book. In the movies, he's too...overdramatic. He looks traumatized 90% of the time. He WAS carrying the Ring, so he had some excuse, but he overdid the dramatic facial expressions. Especially when he gets hurt...

i love the mass majority of them, but aragorn is sooooo awesome, movie wise and book wise.:D:p

then sam, the pip, then merry.:D
frodo was frodo. he's lovable in the first one but after that it just slides down, down, down.:(

I agree about Frodo. He was fine at the begining but after that he kind of lost any admiration I had for him, especially after he was mean to Sam.

They should have left this out. It didn't happen in the books and was uncalled for. They also made it look like Gollum was angry at Frodo because he felt betrayed by him after Frodo tried to rescue himk from Faramir's men but in the books we learn that Gollum ALREADY made the deal with Shelob before Faramir caught them

I still haven't seen the last movie but from what I know of it and what you said... Frodo was mean to Sam in the last book at one point: when Sam had found Frodo in the tower and told Frodo that he had the ring Frodo was pretty cruel (and this is what I was refering to). I don't know about Gollum but he didn't actually go to Shelob until after they were caught by Faramir and his men and he did feel betrayed so I can see why they would do that even though Gollum had thought of it before in the book.

Well Frodo was not that mean towards Sam. He only became too greedy by taking the ring back but nowhere in the book happened what happened in the thirth movie. Gollum DID talk to Shelob before Faramir caught them. Gollum saw Frodo sleeping and he almost felt guilty about what he just did. But in the movie they made it look like Gollum took revenge while in the books Gollum didn't take revenge. He only wanted his precious back and even if he had to kill he would have done it.

They were captured in chapter four or five in book two of TTT and Gollum didn't go see Shelob until chapter seven, when they were traveling towards Cirith Ungol.

Sam, Merry and Pippin are my favorite characters, so I voted for the Hobbits. I also liked Gandalf, though. In the book I liked Faramir, but not as much in the movies. Frodo in the movie...NO OFFENSE TO FRODO OR ANYONE WHO LIKES FRODO...but Frodo was too overdramatic. That's just what I think. (He was also too young.) But I love the movies anyway.:)
