Oh my gosh. I never actually admitted I liked Snape (not even to myself) throughout the series, but deep inside I actually did. I realise that now. But what made me realise that was reading those chapters in Book 7, and all those emotions I'd held up since I was eight for Snape just poured out x] I wanted to cry and cry.
Call me a loser xDD
Well, I loved Snape all along, and I still had the same reaction in DH when everything was revealed ... I cried and cried. Poor Severus.

Holidays my dear ;) People have other things on their mind but don't worry........they will come back :D

Nonono... I don't care if they post or not, but, I mean, look at it!!!!! Lady of Lorien started this thread as a thing about Severus Snape! And somehow it got combined with the thread I made comparing HP and LotR. Can anyone un-combine them, pleeeease??? (I really wanted the Snape thread back, that's all it was!)

Well Grace the reason for that is because they decided to limit the threads and have one for books and one for films. This one turned into the book thread. We decided to not have tons of seperate threads about other stuff apart from Narnia. There are to be 2 threads concerning HP and 2 for LOTR (although since it's Inkling related LOTR has more leniency). There can't be a seperate thread for just that topic. If it pertains to the books this is the place to discuss it, if it pertains to the films then the other thread is the place to discuss it. I hope that helps. Sorry for the confusion. I hope you're not too sad.

Preferably not...we'd have mods moving it in here and merging it left and right because all things regarding HP belong in here. It's basically in an effort to remind people that this particular forum is about and for fans of Narnia to talk about Lewis and Narnia. Granted many topics apart from that are discussed throughout the forum, but they're just little side topics. For more in depth stuff, it's suggested for fans of any other thing be it HP, POTC, LOTR, et al.....go to a forum for those specific things if the one or 2 threads in here are insufficient to discuss it for them. We want people to hang out on TDL, but it is a forum for Narnia/Lewis fans first and foremost. The changes when threads were merged and the Lamppost area was removed were to promote that fact. Starting other threads related to the topic in Dufferland would sort of defeat the purpose and make a messy Dufferland in short order. I'd discourage additional threads based on the premise the mods as a whole have in place.

Well, that's all right then. We'll just do as MGGT says and talk about it here. :D

Let us talk about Severus then! I don't mind. He is my favorite character.
I hated it when he died. It should have been great if he would have survived.

I didn't want him to die either!!! His death was the saddest one for me. I think he was at least as much a hero as Harry. What do you think?

I totally agree!!! He was really heroic, because he suffered all those years as a spy, living in fear if he were found out, even forced to kill someone he loved ... He was brave, loyal, and unrewarded for it! Everyone loved Harry for what he did and hailed him as the chosen one and all that, meanwhile Snape, who was risking his life all the time to help Harry fulfill his destiny, was hated by everyone. So sad. So very sad.

I fully agree!! Even though Lily was married to James, Snape still loved her and all those years he was protecting Harry without Harry even notice it. Everybody hated Snape and he wasn't always nice but to me he was the true hero.

I remember after finishing HBP I had this huge debate with myself about whether he was good or not. And after a while I decided that if he wasn't good, I would personally kill JKR. For some reason he reminded me of Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice.

I was glad he got some credit in the last chapter of DH when Harry is talking to his son. But not much....

I know, after HBP I was all trying to figure every possible way in which Snape could be good and still have killed D. I did figure maybe D had commanded him to do so, and that's what Harry et all overheard D and Snape arging about that one evening -- when Snape was saying he didn't want to do it anymore, and D was saying he had to, etc.

So, I was so relieved in DH when it turned out Snape was good after all. He is kinda Darcy-esque because he was abrupt and didn't bother to try to make himself like-able, but his heart was true, after all.

Snape had one goal and this was to protect Harry against Voldemort. Snape knew the sooner or later Harry would come to Hoghwarts and Voldemort would strike again. I don't think Snape would mind what people thought about him. His task was way too important and in the end he succeeded. I hoped Snape would be good after reading HBP and he was indeed!!!! I agree with sweetWaters. I would have strangles JKK if the opposite happened :D

I think i liked the Harry Potter series better cause when i read em i wanted to read more and more and the lord of the rings confused me when i read it the first time

I'm not allowed to read HP but I've seen the movies. If I was comparing the MOVIES then LOTR of course would be much better. But HP is intruiging. Actually the only reason I like it is cuz of Snape.

The Lord of the Rings is my favorite – it has so much depth. But HP is very fun; and Snape is certainly one of the best characters!

When you are 18 if you feel no moral reservations about HP, you must read the books. They are so much better than the films!

How come? Whatever, if are ever allowed you MUST read them. They are amazing.

And whatever everyone says about Snape, I still get bugged with him. He is OK in the 7th book and in the 5th i simply ignored him but books 1,2,3,4 and 6 I LOATHED Snivellus...
