Unlike Jason's mother, Tom Stetzer had paid attention to what Jason said.

"Son, the face-painting was just one possibility, the kind of thing that's usually popular at fairs. But I happen to know that even this 'backwater' town has anime fans. Maybe we could set you up in your own booth, to draw anime pictures to order."
 
Alipang came out, but Summer came out with him. She hugged Chilena in exuberance, telling her, "Your brother is SO great! He got my Dad talking more in just the time you were away, than he talks in most whole days!"

"And I called Grant to see if he can follow up by singing to Summer's Dad," said Alipang, now getting his turn at being hugged by Summer. "Summer, we'll see you again soon, one way or another, with or without our own wheelchair."

At the Katon house, Tom said to Jason, "We'll supply the materials you need, on one condition: you have to draw me a picture based on Cowboy Bebop."
 
Alipang was not intimidated. "Let's see: when you were upset with Dan, you were clingy on me. Now you're peevish at me, so things must be better with Dan. That's worth walking home for."
 
She rolled her eyes " Al come on lets go!," she told him, taking his hand then pulled into him hind her head in his chest.
