She nodded " We moved back to stay close to Elizabeth," she told him, with a smile taking her hand.

Chilena pulled away from her " Maybe I don't want you to," she told her, in a hush tone " I'm sorry to be so rude like that but I have a family who cares about they rise me not you!," she told her, getting closer to her brother he all ways made her feel safe.

Then Mr.Jakens came in with a smile " Elizabeth?," he asked, walking closer to her.

Eric intervened here: "Chilena, you don't have to rule out speaking them to be loyal to us." To the Jakekens: "Your call _was_ pretty sudden after all; but I expect that Chilena Elizabeth won't have a problem listening to news of you with the rest of us hearing it as well. Please come inside."

Alipang stepped between Chilena and her birth father--ostensibly to shake hands, but also to let this man know he needed to behave himself. "Hello, I'm Elizabeth's brother Alipang; I joined the family long after she did, but we're essentially the same age."

Chilena stayed close to her brother " Sorry Papa," she told him, with a frown.

" We don't want to take you away from your family sweetie we just want to see how you doing?," she told her, with a smile.

" Yes, dear that's all we heard a lot about you and your new family we so pourd of you," he told her, trying putting his arms around her for a hug, But Al was in front of her " We got some other news to tell you. you be a baby sister soon," he told her, sitting next to his wife.

"That reminds me," said Cecilia, who by now was reintroduced to the Jakekens, "your sons were enough older than Chilena that they would all be adults now. Did any of them follow you--" (she looked at Mr. Jakekens) "--in your business?"

Alipang, meanwhile, was suspending his new hands-off policy with Chilena for the duration of this ordeal, standing behind her chair to massage her shoulders and stroke her hair.

She closed her eyes with he was doing this " I'm al ready a big sister to my brother and the little ones," she told her birth father, with a smile " But being another sister to a little one be great," she told him, still with her eyes closed.

" Yes, there well be three more you can take care of," her birth mother told her, with a huge smile on her face.

Mr. Jakekens smile " Yes, one of them did he is on the phone with his girlfriend right now as we speak," he told him.

"PAR-don me," said Alipang, while his parents were still grasping the brassy nerve of the Jakekens, "but without saying that Chilena's _unwilling_ to babysit little kids--" (he kept to himself the fact of Chilena often being annoyed with Melody and Harmony, for it was none of Jack and Kathleen's blasted business) "--how do you even know whether she's _able_ to spare the _time_ for it? She and I both _work_ at a restaurant to earn money for ourselves; and you haven't said how _much_ time you would be asking her to spend on these new half-siblings."

OOC: In addition, I don't think that the posted dialogue has yet mentioned what Hannah said in a PM, that the new kids being spoken of were _adopted_ by the same couple who _didn't_ raise Chilena.

Chilena smiled what her brother was saying " Yes, I have school part time and half the day I'm home schooled after that I have to go to work," she told them, taking Al's thumb.

" Oh, I didn't know that see Jack our daughter is grown up," she told her husband, with a smile.

" Yes, I see that I'm every proud of her," he told his wife.

Then came a man about in his twenties " Hi there," he told them, walking into the house " I'm Mike you most be Elizabeth," he said, putting his hand out to shake it.

Alipang did not interfere with Mike; it was for Chilena to decide how she wanted to respond to him. But he noticed that Jack and Kathleen HAD NOT answered his question about HOW MUCH babysitting time they would have asked Chilena to put in. They also had not mentioned paying her in the event that she did babysit. Nor had they said what, besides Chilena, might have brought them back from Morocco OR WHEREVER. Glancing at his parents, he could tell that they were aware of this also.

He wished the Capshaws had not been called away by an emergency; they might have had answers.

Melody, glad to seize a chance to be useful, answered the door, to see Brendan there. As soon as Alipang heard his friend's voice, he excused himself to rush to Brendan's side.

{ Brendan's arrival can, if necessary, be assumed to happen AFTER the business with Mike Jakekens approaching Chilena. }

"Brendan," Alipang hastily whispered, "please take down the license number of that visiting car, so we can have the police run a check on it. I don't _know_ they're crooks, but something _smells_ wrong."

Brendan's eyebrows rose. "Who's 'they'?"

"Chilena's birth parents--expecting to waltz in and get a red-carpet welcome."

" Yes, I'm Elizabeth but I go by Chilena glad to meet you," she told him, with a weak smile.

" Glad to meet you as well I been hearing lot of stories from mrs cap wow you got a boyfriend good for you kido," he told her, with a smile.

" Oh, if you do babysit the children it might be on Saturdays around three that's when we'll be busy," her birth mother told her.

" We now settleing down in a nice big house not to far from here I got a new job down at the church and your mother here is helping a the nuresing home," her birth father told her " And you pay you $10 per hour," he told her.

Brendan took a picture of the license plate with his phone, and nodded to Alipang, a sign that he had gotten the intel.

"Mom, Dad, that's my buddy Brendan," said Alipang. "I'm going to tell him about our _good_ news. I'll be back inside in a bit." He had decided that it wouldn't hurt a thing for the Jakekens to know that their actions were being made known to others. Outside, he told Brendan what he could, including the apparent involvement of neighbor lady Grizelda Capshaw in "spying" on Chilena's growing up for the Jakekens.

Meanwhile, inside, Eric Havens addressed Kathleen Jakekens: "Nursing home, eh? What position will you hold? Something administrative? And did I understand you would pay Chilena ten dollars an hour for a small time-window of babysitting? If the proposal works out otherwise, I wouldn't object, assuming Chilena wants to do it."

Standing there listening to the news, he found something amiss. "Don't you find it rather odd, that these people even had her cell phone number to begin with?" *Assuming Brendan had been told the news about Chilena recieving a cryptic call from the woman inside*

" I'll be feeding them and washing them I thought it be fun for me to do something esle then what I been doing," she told him, with a smile.

" Yes, if Elizbeth want to watch the little ones that's what we well pay her," he told him.

Chilena rolled her eyes" I'm greatful for you thinking about me but I'm way to busy with my school, Work and now my boyfriend Dan," she told them, she didn't even look up at them she wish her brother was there right now.

{Yes, Brendan can be assumed to have been told about that.}

"They owe plenty of money to my folks from before they gave my folks Chilena to adopt," murmured Alipang. "But they don't look like they're so poor NOW as to be needing another loan. I can't say what they're after now. Of course, it IS barely possible that they simply DO want to make amends in some way. I wish our neighbor lady who seems to have known something weren't out of town.

"Hey, let me phone you in a half-hour or so. I think Chil needs me right now."

Moments later, Alipang was doing something he had expected never to be doing again as long as he lived: sitting with Chilena on his lap, his arms around her and her head cradled against him, as they both watched the faces of the Jakekens.

Always suspecting the worse, "Isn't that quite conveinent of your neighbor?"
"But things just don't add up. Leave Chilena to be adopted. Disappear from her life. Come back from, Morocco of all places. And just ask her to start babysitting."

The above with Brendan would of course be before parting; so Alipang says, "Yeah, and they _aren't_ answering about what all their sons are doing now"--before he rejoins Chilena and holds her to put her at ease.

She laid her head on his chest " I'm scared Al," she told him, in his ear.

Alipang said to her in soft Tagalog, "Mom and Dad want to be fair to them; but we _won't_ allow you to be bound to anything without investigation. My buddy is now aware of this, and he'll help if he can."
