"If you're at Smoky Lake East," said Alipang to Erin, "you're at my school--the school with its own former Navy SEAL to frighten punks who deserve to be frightened. Excuse me, I have to answer a text from my sister...."

He wrote to Chilena:

Cant refus U can I

"yes, I do go there! sweet, we go to the same school! thats so awesome!" Erin waited until Alipang was done texting, "so you mentioned the picnic luncheon? are you doing something there?"

"Master Pitik Imada--you probably heard of him, the Escrima instructor--said that although I'm not in shape for exhibition fighting, he wants me to be a front man for the demo, explain things to the crowd. And lots of my friends are here now, and the girl--" He cut himself short. Intoxicated with Kim, he had almost forgotten that THIS was a girl he was talking to.

Erin raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow. " ok..." she said slowly, " I think I'm going to be doing my snake 'show' right after you! well, it was nice talking to you for a moment, but I gotta go get my snake! he plays quite an important role in the demonstration! I'll see you later, then?" She dug out her truck keys.

Alipang smiled ironically. It would be unfair to him to say that he had done his deeds of standing up to the thugs during the first week of school in order to be admired; he had not. But the events of the week had been dramatic enough to him and his loved ones--especially Chilena--that he was surprised at any fellow East High student NOT knowing about them.

Shrugging, and finding that just now it hurt even to shrug, he went into the restaurant, where the very sight of Kim lifted his spirits. He was no longer angry at her--King Solomon was right about a "soft answer" (from Kim) turning away wrath (Alipang's). But he didn't bother her, because she had her work to do. Various church kids, and Shavonda the worship leader, greeted him.

OOC to Nightfire: In case Hannah is slow to reply to that, be it understood that Chilena is upset with her birth parents for being evasive when questioned, as if they have something to hide. Also, there is an irony Chilena can't help noticing: having given HER up for adoption long ago, her birth parents have now ADOPTED other children. This is not exactly evil for them to do so many years later; but the irony still is there, along with suspicion over their incomplete answers to questions.

Apologies to Confessor: posting for sake of continuity

OOC : It's now lunch time. Alipang is at the Pansit, and has met another girl, Erin the reptile enthusiast. But first we look a short distance away from the strip mall where the Pansit is....

Robby Lang did find Jason, and made his pitch as Hank the crooked lawyer wanted:

"Jason, my man, what're brothers for if not for times of need? Don't you appreciate the good thing we had goin'? Think how many gangs are of all just one race, against everyone else; but we're multicultural! No prejudice, no hate speech, only loyalty to the territory and each other! Ain't that worth somethin', the way we let everyone join?

"Listen, this is the word for you straight from Icewolf. Our lawyers are sharp, know how to make a case; but we have to help them from the outside. We have to make it look like the wrong guys were grabbed....by makin' it look like, even with them in the slammer, just as much stuff as ever is goin' down on the street! It doesn't have to _hurt_ anyone--just show a presence. Graffiti, broken windows, maybe an empty place or two torched; just so it _looks_ like we're still in the game. That'll help Icewolf and the others to sell their alibis...."

But Jason begged off. He didn't say that it was because of Pastor and Mrs. Stetzer, in case that might bring reprisals against the church. He acted simply scared. When Robby finally left in disgust, Jason did not immediately go into Pansit Paradise, for he might still be under observation. He would swing far around, then return and go in ten minutes or so later.

When he saw Alipang, he wanted to tell him everything; but he didn't.

"Are ya? Me too, well excited to see you at least. How has you day gone so far?"

Jen giggled. "It's gone okay. My dad's out at some meeting. My mom's going downtown for some photoshoot later... and my brother's gone for something or another. So I've been at home all day."

"Oh really? Well you want to do something?" He asked. "We should hang out."
