Homeschoolers in Highschool, Part Three

Well, it was her idea to put her head on my shoulder, I didn't make her do it. "Okay, just let me shift us both here...." With the help of his feet raking items toward himself, Alipang soon was able to multi-task: while one side of him held and cuddled Chilena just like the old days, the other side was studying public-school subjects just like the new days.

TRYING TO STAY AHEAD SOMEHOW

Saturday of Labor Day weekend was not overly eventful in Smoky Lake, apart from Chilena and Alipang and their parents facing the mystery of the odd behavior of Chilena's abruptly-reappearing birth parents. I think it was already noted how Kim Tisdale very graciously made the apology to Alipang that she certainly owed him.

Grant the church musician visited Summer's home to sing for her disabled father. Erin, the girl who works as a veterinarian's assistant, attended the volunteer lunch at the Pansit, and made friends with Pastor Stetzer and his wife. Brendan spent more time with Jennifer, who outran him in a footrace. And Jason, the troubled boy, has less and less cause to stay troubled, as by now almost everyone who was corrupting him is behind steel bars.

As soon as any urgent loose ends are tied up, it will be Sunday morning for all characters. MY character, for his part, in his own mind, will be celebrating the one-week-iversary of the first time he laid eyes on Kim Tisdale.

A new story element may soon be added to the roleplay: a Christian radio station in town.

Alipang shrugged, while intentionally NOT disturbing her gentle grip on his thumb. "It's just that you asked if I were also done, as if you wanted me to do something else with you. No big deal."

He rolled his eyes, though with her own eyes closed she wouldn't see it. "All right, Chil-Chil, what IS it that I don't have to worry about?"

She reopened her eyes with a frown " Al I don't know it's just confusing about everything do you know how long I waitied for this to met my real family and now they are here now I don't even care now," she told him, making her grip tighter around his thumb.

Alipang held her gaze with his dark eyes. "It's natural, sweets. What you needed was not THEM, but the chance to KNOW ABOUT them. They have nothing to offer you now that you can't do without; but you needed the chance to realize this. Now they've lost some of their mystery; and if they're not up to anything wrong, you can afford to be forgiving to them."

" But how do I do that Al they came in my life with out calling or anything now they want to be in my life?," she asked, still making her grip tighter " Oh, wait hold on my phone is ringing," she told him, pulling out her phone " It's Kathleen," she told him, holding her phone she didn't want to answer it.

"Then let me answer it;" and Alipang snatched the cellphone from his sister's hand. "Hello, Havens residence, Alipang Havens speaking, who is this?"

" Hello this is Kathleen I'm just want to say go bye to Eilzabeth is she there?," she asked.

Chilena looked at her brother " What does she want?, she asked, in a very low voice.

Alipang made his reply to Mrs. Jakekens double as an answer to Chilena. "You say that you want to say _goodbye_ to my sister, when you only just offered to hire her as a babysitter for her newest siblings? And when you have that good job in the nursing home? If you are an honest person, ma'am, you will not tell anyone--you will not even tell yourself inside your own mind--that WE chased you off. We were open and fair with you; if you leave Chilena again, that is of _your_ doing, not of _our_ demanding. Now I'll put her on; and if she is hurt by what she hears, I myself and our _parents_ will comfort her. I'm putting _Chilena_ on the phone now."

He handed the phone back to his sister.

She listen what her birth mother had to say to her she made a fist then hung up the phone " Why what have done for them to do this to me Al?!," she asked, getting up " She told me that they had to leave because something came up and they love me but why didn't they come here to tell me other then the phone?," she told him, sitting on her bed making her fist open " Kathleen told me they well come back next month to check on me though," she told him.

Alipang also stood up, though he did not initiate any hugging or anything. "You didn't do anything to deserve the rollercoaster ride, sweets. And I expect that _they_ aren't even _conscious_ of having done it to you. There are adults who never grow up--who are still careless children themselves, breaking windows and vases almost without noticing it. You can still permit them some contact, if you can stand it; it's possible to forgive people, and be on guard against them at the same time."

She didn't look up at him " You know I don't even care any more I have a family and if they want to be in my life fine!," she told him.

Now he did touch her, just a little, stroking her golden hair. "You're better than they are, sweets. You can afford to be generous, though you don't owe it to them to let your feelings be trampled on. And yes, you do have a family that loves you, especially me."
