Sammy Ashford, Alipang's freshman friend, came by Brendan's house on a bicycle and called out to his new friend's new friend: "Hey, Brendan! Did you hear about Al? Two gangsta-babies tried to jump him last night on his way home from the restaurant after you left there! He's okay, but the other guys probably wet their pants when he sneaked up behind them the way he does. I heard about it from my uncle who's a cop."
 
She put her arms around him " I-I don't like this," she told him, laying her head on his should " What a great birthday I'm having," she thought, with a sigh

Wide-eyed at the news, "Are you serious? That's pretty crazy". He thought about that for awhile. His bus pulled up, and he jumped on. These guys are indeed becoming more bold, being friends with Alipang sure has it's adventures Brendan laughed at this, to himself. Then realizing, people were looking at him odd, he replied, "Funny thought", and shrugged.
 
As Alipang walked along with Summer, several small girls in the neighborhood, who knew both teens, loudly chanted at them:

"Alipang and Summer, sittin' in a tree,
K-I-S-S-I-N-G!!
First comes love, then comes marriage,
Then comes Summer with a baby carriage!"

Alipang's own little sisters had played with these girls, so he knew they would not be afraid of him. Rushing at them with a pretended roar of anger, he scooped one giggling child up in his arms and told her, "Jamie, you are being a silly-dilly-pill! Summer is too good for ME to marry; she's going to get a millionaire to fall in love with her. But then I'll get to be their dentist."
 
Dan blushed and waited expectantly. The bus pulled around. "Let's have you open it on the bus."

Meanwhile, Jen's bus was pulling into the school, way earlier than usual.
 
Brendan's bus pulled up to the school. He got off, and walked into the building navigating the mass to get to his locker. It took him once or twice to get his combo right, and then his locker opened right up, a piece of paper fell out. Bending over, he picked it up, whats this I wonder. Reading the paper, he realized what it was, and started to laugh. It was a threat note, in summary, threatening him to break off his friendship with Alipang. I'll have to show Alipang this, I think we could use this actually, to our advantage, if we play our cards right..I'll show it to him in English I guess

After gathering his things, he walked over to Jen's locker to wait for her.
 
When Alipang rejoined Summer, he grew serious again. "Summer, we've known each other for at least two years now. Do you think you know me well enough to feel confident that I tell the truth? To feel confident that if I say something dramatic happened but I was the only witness, I'm NOT just making it up to get attention?"
 
Jen sighed, exhausted. She had barely gotten any sleep the night before, and therefore felt a little cranky. Her spirits immediately lightened when she saw Brendan by her locker.

"Hey," she said, bending over to enter her combination.

"Hey" he smiled. "You have a good night?"

Summer didn't even hesitate to say. "You wouldn't lie to get attention. You're not that kind of person. You wouldn't lie about anything else either unless it was a crucial thing that would endanger someone."
