Around the moment when Brendan had neutralized all the others, Carlos, who had been mostly on the retreat, found a crucial opening--and hit Alipang right on his cracked rib. Alipang dropped like a felled tree, the spasm of pain preventing him even from crying out.
Consciousness began returning.
As soon as Alipang could say anything, he wheezed, "Get--cellphone--out. See--who just--called."
[It was his sister Chilena, having a premonition that Alipang was in trouble.]
"Call her....she'll worry if...she DOESN'T know." Then, recognizing Grant's voice, Alipang rallied further to say to him, "They...wanted more....than the second cheek....wanted all...of me."
Jen was at home, oblivious to what was happening back at the Pansit. She was getting ready for the movies. Her mother was out, and her father was at a meeting while her brother was somewhere with a new girlfriend of his. Home alone was the best time for her.
She decided to call Brendan.
"Grant, go to the street and wait to wave down the police. They should be arriving shortly." "Alright Al, i'll call her back". Brendan clicked, send on the phone, then send again to call Chilena. "Hey Chilena? It's Brendan, one of Alipangs friend".
While on the phone with Chilena, Brendan's own phone was ringing. He pulled it out and saw that it was Jen. He opened it up and said "Hey! Jen, hey I'm real sorry, can I give you quick call later I'll explain everything then. Again, It'll only be a few minutes. I'm sorry!" Clicking off, after he heard Jen's reply.
Back on with Chilena, "Alipang was in trouble, being chased by acouple of the thugs, I joined in to help him, and we beat them off. He's ina bit of pain, but I have the police coming so don't worry. he'll give you a call when he can."
ooc: dinner be right back
Jen sighed, and then returned to getting dressed. She hoped everything was alright.
Brendan gave the details to the police, in exact accuracy, emphasizing Alipang's innocence of seld-defense, and how the attack had been completely unprovoked. Once he saw Alipang safely on his way, He gave jen a call, "Hey there. I'll start to make my way over to your house, is that okay?"
"Yeah that's fine," Jen said. "What happened?"
