The landline phone in the Havens house rang. Mom being at home with the girls, this call was from Dad's cellphone; he was driving to Shilohsville, and would soon be with Alipang, who was reported not to have suffered much damage--only, the hairline fissure in his rib had been widened, which would mean slower healing.
Asking for Chilena, Dad said to her: "Honey, Al has no new injuries, just a setback on the biggest one he had from yesterday. He was fighting them even _with_ all his bruising; and that fine young man Brendan was able to prevent him from getting hurt worse. Now, Chilena, I want you to understand this: going by available witnesses, your brother did not 'get into' a fight; the fight came looking for him."

Hugging Chilena, Cecilia Havens said, "Not tonight. You don't want Alipang to catch an infection from you now, of all times. But if you seem okay in the morning, we'll go. And you may be able to talk to him tonight."
When Eric Havens came to the hospital, he found Alipang already seeming no worse than before; of course, he had plenty of pain medication in him now. But his mind was lucid, and he told his father that two of the three white assailants possibly had a connection with the attempted attack on Tuesday night. He had already told as much to Police Chief Costamesa, who had come out to see him personally.

But before it reached the intro, with his other hand he texted Alipang hey bud, how are you feeling? How is your family? I hope your doing much better. Hey you did good today kid, we may make a fighter out of you yet. I'll be sure to tell Mr. Kramer the details when I see him next. I'm in a movie with Jen, so I'll be talking to you after, and then turned his phone on silent.

After seeing Brendan's text message, Alipang asked his Dad to phone their house, and to start the conversation with medical details, so that Mom and "the girls" would already know he was okay before he tried to speak with them himself.
Once Eric Havens had made this report as requested, Alipang gave his own reassurances to his mother, to Melody and to Harmony in that order. This cleared the way for Alipang's closest confidante.
"Chil-Chil? I love you! Yes, it's me, and I'm in better shape than some of the guys who jumped me. Brendan was terrific! We've got to give his family a party at the Pansit sometime."

Telling Chilena more about his adventure, Alipang concluded like this:
"I'll be asleep soon with all the pain meds, Chil-Chil. So while I'm still conscious, imagine I'm there and we kiss goodnight and hug long and close, and I don't seem hurt at all. I think there must be some way God will bring good out of this."

ATTEMPTING TO MAKE IT EASY FOR
ANYONE WHO STILL IS INTERESTED
ANYONE WHO STILL IS INTERESTED
With some of our participants having faded away (or never really started in the first place), it's actually growing easier to summarize. This plot began on the Sunday eight days before Labor Day. The farthest-advanced action has now gotten as far as Thursday, early evening.
* Summer, NightcrawlerFan's character, was threatened by the bully "Leopard Man" and ended up actually fighting him. This RP having some slight connection with reality, she did _not_ win that fight against a much larger antagonist who was a genuine streetfighter; but she got in some shots, and then was rescued from serious harm by the school's new security man, the Navy SEALS veteran Wilson Kramer. Leopard Man went to a much-overdue juvenile detention.
* Dan and Chilena were on a date (their third already, celebrating her 17th birthday) Wednesday evening when both fell sick with "a bug." Thus both missed school on Thursday, the day Kim Tisdale began the waitressing job Alipang had obtained for her.
* Brendan was fortunately nearby on Thursday afternoon when Alipang was in danger at a park. Rocknose and other thugs had lured Alipang into a trap by pretending to have seized Alipang's friend Sammy Ashford. Once he saw they _didn't_ have Sammy, Alipang felt more than entitled to run for it since he was outnumbered, unarmed, _and_ still hurting from the beating he had passively accepted on Wednesday to prove a point. Unable in his condition to get away clean either, Alipang was saved by Brendan. Alipang did suffer one hard blow to his already-cracked left rib, and so was hospitalized as a precaution. His pacifist friend Grant was the first other person on the scene of the action, and "waved in" the police.

Summer sat on her bed rubbing her sore neck. Her mom had told her to stay inside. Summer sighed. She wished her mom wasn't such a worrier.

That night at the hospital, Alipang dreamed wildly as usual. The only element from his immediate actual circumstances was that he vaguely thought a giant wasp was stinging him in the arm which actually had an intravenous drip-tube fixture inserted.
Apart from the stinging, what he dreamed was this:
Cindy LeMarque was falling toward him from the top of a 300-foot cliff. He caught her, but the impact drove them both into the earth, till they found themselves inside a spacious, galleried cavern. When they rose to their feet, Cindy had changed into Kim Tisdale. She said nothing to Alipang, but without the need of discussion they began walking along the limestone gallery toward the apparent source of light.
Soon they discovered that a restaurant had been set up inside the cavern. It appeared to be a combination of his own familiar workplace, and the Italian restaurant where Chilena had been on her short-lived birthday date with Dan. Kim suddenly assumed the appearance of a waitress. Turning toward Alipang with a look of haughty contempt on her earth-angel face, she snapped, "Stand back, LITTLE BOY, and I'll show you how it's done."
She began rushing about the subterranean dining room at superhero speed, bringing dishes to every table, even to ones where the people already had their food and were baffled at her coming. As a finale, she brought forth a dessert tray....selected a whole, uncut chocolate cream pie from it...approached Alipang, saying, "Since you don't know anything about anything, let's teach you the biological operations of the senses"....and smushed the pie into his face.
Now his friend Brendan appeared from someplace with a wet towel, cleaning Alipang's face and saying to him, "That's what happens when you fall for a girl who's in Room 273."
Alipang awoke, realizing that his hospital room number had just been spoken by someone in the corridor.
~ ~ This is the setup for Chilena, or somebody, to come see Alipang on Friday morning.

Chilena came into his room slowly walking over to his bed " Ah, hi Al," she told him, not looking at him " How are you doing?," she asked, tears rolled down her pial white face.
