ALIPANG TO DAN: "Chilena is often my chauffeur; but now that you're well, I expect that you and she will always be unavailable to me at the SAME times. That's okay, I'll have my own license before long. I might ask Kim to drive me, if--" He suddenly changed what he would have said into: "--if that weren't acting too much as if she and I were already close."

ERIC TO OLLIE: "Chilena didn't even GET TO go anyplace with her birth parents. They paid one visit to our house--offered to pay her to babysit additional children they had adopted since (how's that for irony?)--and then ran away. But one of the older birth brothers, named Mike, saw Chilena separately just yesterday. At least he seemed sincere about wanting to make amends to Chilena for the lack of contact since she came to us at age three."

"Did something happen between you and Kim?" Dan asked, then realized that might be too personal. "Or... you don't have to tell me. It's okay. Sorry."

THIS PART IS BEFORE THE POST JUST ABOVE: Alipang kissed her back, but then steered her toward her boyfriend. "Being with me PART of the time is enough; Dan deserves a share of you too."

Kim was near Chilena while I was in the Escrima demonstration--that is, narrating it, my cracked rib wouldn't let me spar. Chilena saw a boy with Kim, and right in the hearing of others she let her loyalty to me run away with her, saying she was afraid Kim was going to hurt my feelings. As for that, Dan, I'm not sure you even knew, but yes, I am bonkers for a senior girl a year and a half older than I am."

Dan smiled and took Chilena's hand as well. "So are we all going to the park? I really want to go see the festivities."

"That's not bad. To go bonkers for a girl that's older, I mean," Dan said. "Crushing on someone isn't bad."

Again he noticed how Chilena had apparently forgotten already that she had caused him huge embarrassment.

"Okay, so then we'll all head over there. I heard that some big-time bands are playing there," Dan smiled.
 
OOC: There are still TWO cars that have to depart from the truck stop. Unless there is a special reason for Alipang to ride with Dan, he will naturally ride with his sister--or RATHER, he will drive it himself to go easy on her arm, since on his learner's permit he can drive if a licensed driver is WITH him.
