Fish and Machia heard a loud cry from the ship. "He must've realized we're gone!" Machia shouted. "Arr...we have to hide first. Then we'll DV a knight or ranger to come git us and take us back to the mainland."
The pair quickly took refuge in the thick forest. They ran deep into the woods and as they searched for signs of intelligent life. Finding none, they found a spring and rested beside it. "Machia..." Fish said slowly, "wasn't Galma always densely populated? Arr... Where be everybody?"
He sat up with a start. "Fish! How could we forget? All those tales of High King Peter and King Edmund and Queen Susan and Queen Lucy! They left Narnia, and when they came back, they were but a few years older, but Narnia-"
"-Had seen several decades!" She finished. "Oh no! How many years must have passed for Galma to be unpopul--" An arrow whizzed by her ear, and with a sharp thwang became lodged in the tree behind her. In a flash both she and Machia had instinctively stood up and reached for their pistols, only to remember they were unarmed.
Fish spoke cautiously, "Arr...who be there?" No response came. She went to take a step foward, but Machia stopped her.
"Arr...show yerselves," Machia said sharply. Again, no response. Fish and Machia looked at eachother, unsure of what to do. Fish was sure that the owner of the arrow could hear her heart thumping, but still she kept quiet. Finally, after what seemed like minutes, a figure emerged from the shadows.
The figure waited a couple of seconds before deciding to show itself. It sensed the two figures were uneased and nervous but it was no reason for her to let her guard down. Streching the string and arrow farther away from the bow the figure finally took a step forward emerging slowly from the shadow. Its face was covered with the hood of a black cloak, but both, Machia and Fish could tell the figure was female. "Your heartbeat sounds as louds as drums of war. A bit nervous, perhaps?" she told Fish.
Fish and Machia stood standing in their spot knowing that with no weapons their lives were in immediate danger, and they both weren't ready to have their lives ended right there and then.
"I demand ye give us a name!" Machia said.
"Demand? What happened to good manners," the figure said. She moved a little to her left where Fish was standing and started walking around her.
"We be pirates! Thar be no need fer us to use manners," he said.
"Pirates, eh?" the mysterious girl streched the string on her bow to the point it was about to break. "I always though Pirates were people legends and myths were made of. I'd never thought there would be people delusional enough to call themselves pirates," she said.
"I be Fish, this be Machia. Now what be yer name?" Fish demanded.
"There's no reason for me to tell you who I am," she said. "...Just yet," she said after a pause.
