Prince Caspian: Ben Barnes & why is he so old?

Yeah, I was not imagining someone as old as Ben Barnes, but hopefully he'll be good. He looks ok to me, but he's trying to look older in those pics I think, so hopefully he'll improve later on. Excited!

omgh he is not at al as i imagined him to be
but eah atleats we now knopw who he is!
yayness!
Agreed. Acording to the books, he was suppposed to be younger than Peter and older than Susan, roughly. In the movie, he'll be at least five years older than Peter.

I just saw this thread and looked at ben's photo/stats. He is far too old. He's more of a boy in PC, and surely a grown man (25 years old) would have thought more about protecting the young Pevensies than looking to them for guidance. Plus, why would a man his age not understand about Miraz and Pruney's situation, how if they had a baby he would be displaced, how in fact they killed his father? It's ridiculous how childish Caspian must be, if in fact he is 25 years old and as more or less helpless as he seems -- why would he even have a tutor telling him "Old Narnia" stories as if he were a boy -- if he were this old? I couldn't be more disappointed.
:(

it may not be as bad as u guys think it might be.

I never even knew who was playing who and what before LWW came out..and I saw the movie..had no problems with it. Loved how all the charatcers were cast....it could be the same for PC.

I agree with you.

I have half a mind to write to them and ask why they couldn't have casted someone (much) younger.

Who would you write to? It's as if they didn't read the book ...
:(
If I could, I would write an angry letter to Andrew Adamson and/or Pippa Hall.

Mr. Adamson and/or Ms. Hall:

Did you brainwash Douglass Gresham?? I thought you were supposed to stick as closely to the book as possible, and Mr. Gresham was supposed to make sure you would! That's what you said before LWW came out- or maybe the succuss of LWW went to your head. You all prided yourselves on sticking exactly to the story line, and in no place in Prince Caspian did CS Lewis say or imply that Caspian was 25. Maybe you didn't realize that 25 is almost double the age of the true Caspian? I know you all have put a large amount of trust in your makeup and effects team, but I highly doubt you can make a 25 year old man look like a 13 year old boy unless you completely alter his face and film him in front of a green screen and then shrink him with your computers, finally placing him next to the Pevensies.

Sincerely but unhappily,
pink-cheetah

That's something I would say if only I could contact them.

EDIT: now I understand why adults from our world are "too old" for Narnia, as Lewis seemed to imply.

MUST I DO THIS AGAIN: TO PLAY A PERSON WHO IS THE SAME AGE AS PETER PEVENSIE, THEY MUST GET SOMEONE WHO IS THE SAME AGE OR EVEN SLIGHTLY OLDER THAN WILLIAM MOSELY. WILL IS 20 WHY IS IT SO BAD THAT HE IS TWENTY FIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE, it says on his bio that he often plays roles as a teenager. WHY AM I THE ONLY PERSON WHO SEEMS TO SEE THIS.

I agree with you, Jean!

everyone is criticising the guy way toooo much.

give him a CHANCE.

dont judge him so soon!

Might I add that Anna who plays someone whose age is approximated at 12yo is now 18 yo. Skander whose character is approximately 11 yo is 16. and Georgie is 12 to her Character's approximate age of 10. Why aren't you guys fussing about them being too old/ This is driving me nuts, give the poor guy a chance.

Yeah. and, look at the Hobbits in lotr. the ppl who played them were like..Ben's age..and they made them look shorter for the films. Might'n Caspian have to a bit shorter..they could make Caspian in the film seem a little shorter than Ben's real height?

Caspian wasn't tall until VotD Jean, if my memory serves me correctly.

I see both views, I on one hand would love for them to merely take the books and transfer them into scripts, however I realize that that really can't happen. I was really startled, six feet and 25 were quite a shock.
On the other hand, of course he deserves a chance. And we're giving him one, I don't hear anyone saying they'll miss PC on account of this!

So please if you must disagree, at least do it nicely. It's a free country and you are all intitled to your own opinion.

pinkcheetah, I don't think anyone brainwash Doug Gresham. :) I'm pretty sure that's not possible.
