Production Blog

The essay is cool. It's interesting that they'll be creating a more realistic look with whole families of other creatures, young, old, male, female...it will be interesting to see. They've got their work cut out for them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that there were no female dwarves - just female humans with dwarvish blood...

I don't know that it is specified really. They'd have to be able to reproduce and I don't think it was just with humans...the dwarf race in Narnia would have been really compromised by that time otherwise. No female dwarves are mentioned that I remember apart from Caspian's nurse looking like she had dwarf blood in her. It doesn't mean there weren't any. There's a race of dwarves so there would have to be women and children in there.

Did you guys see the newest one? They talked about some of the changes they made from the book.

Sorry for DPing.

I saw it...don't know what to think of it though. The weakest part of LWW by far was the script. From what I read in the blog I'm not inspired to be overarchingly optimistic with the PC script either. I'll wait and see of course, but hope that they won't necessarily use the same script people in the other CON movies...I guess I'll have to give them a chance for PC...grrrrrr.

I saw it, and like ITW, it has me a little worried. But there isn't much I can do about it, and complaining only makes me cross. So I'll be hoping for the best :)

Interview with the screenwriters

Go to http://adisney.go.com/disneypictures/narnia/blog/ to see an interview by the screenwriters of Prince Caspian.

I am not sure how I feel about some of the changes they are making. The Pevensies get to know Caspian earlier in the story and are all in the underground caves, the queens as well.

They are, however, going to try to explain how their lives went after returning to England for a year after having been kings and queens for, technically, longer than they were alive in England.

Well I hope they make it work.

Actually, I think what they're doing is for the best... it might not be completely true to the book, but this way, the movie will be much more watchable, and more cohesive to LWW.

Lets face it, there are millions of people out there who have never read PC who will go see the movie... and if they don't see the Pevensies until halfway through the movie, they're going to be really confused and quite possibly upset.

There is no reason to make them wait. The Pevensies are there in the beginning of the book. Then we go to a flashback of Caspian's story. That would have easily worked. I don't understand why they would make Caspian meet the Pevensies any sooner.

I read the blog and I dont understand it either. I dont agree that the plot should be significantly altered. I also really hope they dont have to cut out much of the original story because they want to "explore" what happens when a King or Queen of Narnia returns to being a 1940s schoolkid either.

However, this does strike me as being the most difficult of the seven (besides perhaps LB but for different reasons) to make a movie out of though, because of the long periods of time where little action is taking place. So I'm going to hold out hope that their changes are for the better in trying to translate the book onto movie screen.

It is extremely disheartening to read that part of the blog. It makes me really worry about the way the film will be. Mr. Bob is right in that the Pevensies are in the beginning. They say that they need to change things to make it work on screen...they don't need to do that as much as they think they do. I'd prefer if they had new script writers for VDT...I can't stand the thought of that one being messed with. The script was the weakest part of LWW by far and it's not sounding promising for PC...less than thrilling to say the least. We'll have to wait and see what happens. But I love the books and if the movie differs too much from the book, all the special effects, make-up, wardrobes, etc will not be enough to redeem it by a long shot. I'm willing to wait and see, but I ssssooooooo hope they get a new script writing team for VDT who know's what they're doing a bit more. No offense, it's just my opinion. I didn't like what I read in the blog at all. We'll have to wait and see......ugh.

Just putting her on camera and giving her a line would be expanding Prunaprisimia's role. But I think it is important to show her, hopefully in flashbacks only, so the audience can see how she feels about her nephew. After all, it stated in the book that he did not like her because she did not like him.

I would not mind an expansion of a role to explain the plot, but not expanding a role to have a character do more than was done in the book for no good reason other than to have the person on camera.

imerged the production blog thread with the interview thread since the interview is part of the blog.

I can't wait till they get QueenHelen's part of the blog up.
