Seven and the Doctor would have been perfect. And don't even get me started about the debauched Janeway/Chakotay thing.

Debauched? *goes to look it up in the dictionary*... Um... Did you like the idea of Janeway/Chakotay or not, out of curiosity? I thought it would have been better than him and Seven.. Seven and the Doctor would have been a good match. I wonder if they could have developed Harry and that one of the Delani sisters that he was going out with. That might have been interesting, if you actually got to see the Delani sisters at all... I also thought that Kes/Nelix was a tad weird, but it was not as stupid as the Seven/Chakotay thing....

I probably m eant something else....I meant it more in terms of a catastrophe or fiasco. They [the writers] had something good in their hands with Janeway/Chakotay, but they let it slip away. All becuase Kate Mulgrew said she didn't think it was right for you to get involved with your boss.

Kes/Neelix was definitely weird. Not to mention a little gross.

EDIT: debacle! That's the word I wanted.

Yea, that would have been great!! (janeway/chakotay) I did not know that it was not developed because Kate Mulgrew did not like it.. :( that is sad. I agree about the Kes/Nelix thing.
I loved Tom/B'llanna. That was perfect. :)

The seven/chacotay was so gross! Anything/chacotay has the potential to scar my brain for life, not to mention making me lose my dinner forever!!! Even chacotay by himself was nasty! ack!!!

All pairings in Voyager were wrong!! All of them. I mean, this is a nerdy thing. Nerds don't get into relationships!! Unless... that is......it's an awesome superfast water-cooled powerful laptop!! :p

*hugs lappy*

Tom and B'elanna were cute. But what an odd couple. haha. Yes, there were rumors floating around that Kate and Robert Beltran [Chakotay] didn't like each other, but I don't know if that's true. You know how rumors are. The only other reason I heard for the writers not pursuing a Janeway/Chakotay relationship was because Janeway shouldn't be like every other Starfleet captain (namely PIcard and Kirk) and get involved with a crew member. Yeah, like that held water.

BK, I don't even want to respond to that. For own personal reasons, Chakotay is a close second of my favorite character(s) on the show (the Doctor is probably first). I like Robert Beltran. Though his movies tend to be pretty full of language *sigh*.

Kes + Neelix was plain weird. Kinda like on DS9 when a beautiful woman loved that Ferengi brother of Quark's, just weird. And I didn't like Neelix.

Tom and Belanna was cute.

I guess I had quit watching the program before Chakotay had any romance, but I just didn't like Seven at all -- Borg babe. If she had really been assimilated, wouldn't she have looked more Borgie? And not like a Barbie-soll in silver spandex? And if she was all human but for her facial impant, why didn't she wear a noraml uniform or clothes, why the spandex? Plus she was a bit of a dim bulb.

Seven was pretty cool, but it was weird that she did not wear the normal uniform.....
With the Janeway/chakotay thing... Wouldn't that have been a little different, cause he was her first officer, not some random crewmember... But oh well, Janeway is still the best..

Because they had assimilated Picard and he had returned to his normal, human self. It kind of takes watching the different series to understand the reasons why; I would look at http://memory-alpha.org for more information. But people can be assimilated by the Borg and most of their implants be removed without any damage. She didn't just have the facial implant(s). Her cortical node (internal), biradial clamp(s), etc... were still part of her human system that the Doctor couldn't remove until season 7. As the Doctor said in the episode, "The Gift" (season 4), he said the reason behind her outfit was for efficiency and versatility. She wasn't a "dim bulb". If anything, she was smarter than most of the crewmembers. She simply had the mindset of a robotic humanoid, which meant that most human things that are basic were beyond her grasp (hence the Doctor's "social lessons" that he created for her). If you read the books, Seven's character is expanded, particularly the novels "Before Dishonor" "Full Circle", , and "Unworthy" (this is a Voyager novel trilogy, btw. I've never read Before Dishonor though because I couldn't find it).

It might have been, but Kate had the idea that you shouldn't become involved with your boss. This was the excuse she gave, saying that she didn't want her children thinking that it was "okay." But I don't really buy that explanation. Robert Beltran absolutely hated being on Star Trek, partly because the writers seemingly forgot about Chakotay. As soon as Seven appeared on the show, all of the focus of the show went to her and Janeway. (In fact, Jennifer Lien [Kes] wasn't even told she would be written off the show. She was basically shown the door and told that she was being written off of the show when she had no desire to leave.) The writers of Voyager, or TPTB (The Powers that Be), or both, really mistreated some of the actors on the show in the way they handled the show.

That is awful!!!! I liked Kes!! She was really cool!!! I mean, maybe it would have gotten a little difficult in season 6 or 7 when she started getting older, but still, she was cool!!!!

I read Before Dishonor. It was pretty good. I am sorry I took it to the used bookstore now or I would have sent it to you.

I dunno, it's like you said, as soon as Seven came on the show, then the show was all about Seven. And really, I think it was just because of her hot body ... which was great to look at and all, but her affected personality was just weird to me, like a hot borg-babe Data. Who wants that?

OK, maybe some nerdie trekkies.

The writers only did it for the ratings. Which, if they had had some common sense, they would have realized that it was the writing, not the acting, that had the show garnering low ratings. To this day I will always loathe the Voyager writers because they could have produced a much better show. Characters like Harry, Chakotay, Tuvok, and even the Doctor took a backseat to the characters of Janeway and Seven.

And no, I didn't like Borg barbie either. I also didn't like Kes because she annoyed the heck out of me. But so do Neelix, Tuvok and Janeway.

I agree!!!! Tuvok and Janeway, though, were two of my favorite characters. My favorites are Janeway, Harry, Tom, the Doc, and B'Elanna.

I didn't like Torres at all. Ugh! She always annoyed me! Why couldn't they find a good female engineer who was not just pretty but actually likeable? Like the mechanic (engineer basically) Kaylee in Firefly? She leaves B'lana in the dust! THE DUUUUUSSSSST!!!!

And ChacotaY was icky, and so was Riker.
Why couldn't they find a good first officer like the one here: I'm a guy, and even I can tell that this one is better looking and has more acting chops than the other two. Big time.

Yeah well. The majority of female fans disagree about both Riker and Chakotay. And I didn't care for the new Star Trek (the picture you posted is of Kirk's father), so I can't say anything good about it aside from Karl Urban's performance as Bones.

And don't even get me started about defending Roxann Dawson (Torres). I find the bias towards Voyager pretty amazing, considering that at least, they didn't have a homosexual-themed episode like DS9 did.

DS9 had a big gay episode? I thought I had seen them all! I disliked Riker in a general way, he seemed like a ... pretty boy or something. I liked Belanna very mcuh, she was sweet and shy and ferocious. She was a good character. Chakotay I thought was good; he wasn't your typical first officer type.

I think I just got bored with Voyager; maybe the plots got weird. I am going to get the whole series from Net Flix and try again, because they did have good characters that I liked, excluding Neelix and Seven.

Do you remember that TNG episode where Riker fell in love with this person from the planet where they didn't have male and female people? If they were big weirdos on this planet, they could come out as male or female, but it was very much looked down upon, they were all supposed to be just one gender. So Riker wanted this person he loved to go ahead and be a girl so they could be in love, and he/she was almost to do it, but then her planet leadership took her away for brainwashing, and when she came back she was all happy to be a non-gender (or same-gender?) person again like the rest of the people on her planet.

It was quite thought-provoking. And Riker got to show that he wasn't just interested in a woman's looks. Cuz the person he fell in love with wasn't actually even a woman. Sort of.

Yeah, there was a lesbian attraction between Jadzia Dax and some other Trill, which included a pretty controversial same-sex kiss. I don't remember the episode name. I saw the clip on YouTUbe and decided not to even try to watch DS9. I also found it pretty odd that a supposedly "family" oriented show would stoop that low, but I guess it was the liberal agenda of Star Trek that pushed it through.

I never liked Riker either. He was always too....too, I don't know. But I never liked TNG to begin with, becuase it annoys me so much.

Though I did like the episode with Worf's ritual suicide attempt. I don't remember the episode name ( ), but Riker gave one heck of a speech that I couldn't help but like him for, if only for 5 minutes. :p

Like who? all 5 of youse? lol!!

Let's face it. I watched Voyager for Janeway and later for Seven... otherwise it would have been a bland and forgettable show. I hated the way they introduced Torres as the chief Engineer: She beats up the first Chief Engineer! and her reward? She takes his spot. Now tell me where in the world can this work? You assault your superior, you get charged and dismissed. but nooooo, this is Star Trek, they are supposed to be progressive where criminal acts are rewarding. That's progress alright!! I tell you, if it hadn't been for Janeway, I would have never watched that.

Oh, and George Kirk was the first officer on the Kelvin.

I didn't like the chacotay or riker because those two never showed any emotion. Chacotay would say something like:

Voyager will be destroyed in 10 seconds, captain, we're running out of options!!!

but his face would look like he was just saying:

Can you please pass the cheese for my steamed broccoli, Captain? I like my vegetables a little zesty, if you don't mind.

what the...????
