*Mounts horse* Forth Eorlingas!!! DEATH!!!
I have not read Appendix A, so therefore I do not count it. And all they got was a boring, unnecessary love story with lots of kissing. Eowyn got to kill the Witch King. And she's an epic swordswoman.
No, that was Galadriel, and she turned that down.
Eru's Architect, the Tolkien, wanted The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen in the scroll. Eowyn may have defeated the Lord of the Nazgul, but Arwen could have done the same had she been a Pelenor!
But she wasn't. She was at home, moping and trying to figure out if she should stay and wait for the love of her life or go live forever in bliss. Blah.
Actually that tis an interpretation by Jackson. There tis no reference in Appendice A of Arwen moping and feeling conflicted about staying or sailing for Valinor.
I told you, I haven't read the Appendix so I do not count it. In the books themselves though Arwen is only mentioned a few times in passing, if I remember correctly, so one interpretation is as good as the next.
Oy, we sound like government people. Yesh.
Satyr, you can beat them up, I'll make the witty comments.
Defy the Oracle of Illuvatar and ye shall be suffer the fate of Gorthaur and his Mordorian hordes! You stand on shaking ground Child of Eru. The Doom of Man shall consume you!
And the doom of the firstborn shall consume you.
There is no doom that holds sway over us.
Because Arwen's capabilities haven't been fully realized, that should make you Eowynites tremble! We already know the extent of Eowyn's prowess and what she can do; but Arwen's abilities could be limitless!
Elves do not die. They continue to live on. That is their doom. Wasn't it said somewhere in the Sil that even the great powers would someday envy men because they die?
Oy, I'm so scared. What's she gonna do, moan me to death? Drown me in tears?
To die is to be with Eru, the Eldar must go to Valinor to heal from all pain they endured on Arda. The First Borns have seen and suffered more than you could possibly fathom. Show some respect! *Draws elven bow like Legolas did in the Riddermark when insulted by Eomer*
You seem to have forgotten Loudwater Fury.
*Adresses troops* Form a line! Shall we let these fools dishonor the White Lady of Rohan? Of course not! We shall ride out and meet them! Forth Eorlingas!!!
Exactly my point. Humans die before they suffer such things. Therefore, it is the elves doom to live on and to not be free of their hurts like humans are.
That wasn't even her. In the book Arwen was nowhere near the ford. It was Elrond who called up the flood, because the river had been breached. Gandalf added the horses. That was a liberty taken in the movie, and may I say it was not one that I particularly liked.
Just because the elves live mostly immortal lives and have suffered, doesn't make them less magnificient. They are always ever powerful and wise.
I never said that. Sir G brought up the doom of men. I brought up the doom of elves. Stop twisting my words.
And however wise and great the elves may be at the beginning they were just like humans- and elves have longer lives so they live to make more mistakes!
Gah, the Arwenites hacked Pandora radio! Rivendell music is playing!
