The Series is threatened.

No Powl'. Not for what you say. But posting links or spoilers from "original" work that has not officially been released to the public is potentially damaging to the forum and to Paul, our Admin. Like what Truman did. We have already known about these things. And had a thread about it that has since disappeared from the pages. I will not give a link to that. And I will not say anything about it since it's not permitted.

pioouf, after everything we say, and coment about PC, I thought we were busted :p:p;)

The other thread, if it is the right one, was started by me and was about a leaked early draft of the script. The site actually showed actual pages of the script. From what I understand, it was the actual early draft that was eventually discarded and was not supposed to be publicized.

The discussion can be found here.

If they believe that it will flop even more because it is a 100% faithful adaptation will be dull, I believe that they should cancel it.
I hope that they will make a good 3rd movie, but if they don't, I can understand them. There is a bitter crisis now...

there is ... Anyway, I hope they can make ALL the books, I would be soo disapointed if they didn't

I remember reading they have plans to make all seven books, but I think that all depends on how much money the movies make, as in the previous movies whether they commit to the next movie. I also want them to make all seven books. :)

Mark Johnson said they'd only keep making them if each did as well as LWW did or were close to being as successful. It boils down to money. If they can't please the fans, they won't make enough. One would hope that would be food for thought in producing the next script. Time will tell. I hope they'll be able to make the films, but they need to think carefully on how to proceed.

They cannot expect each one to do as well as LWW, but they should expect each one to at least make a profit in the theatres. Therein lies the issue with PC. If the next ones can all make at least $500 million each, they should be called successes, especially if they keep the budgets down to about $150-175 million.

I do hope they learned two important lessons from PC. First and most importantly that the movies should stay as close to the books as possible, as LWW did. Second that the releases should stay in Late Nov-December.

I have no information but my opinion and that is I hope they keep going! They must know that as long they keep bringing CS Lewis's works on the screen, not some random writer's interpritation, then fans will support the film. LWW and PC are still excellent films and I really hope VDT goes just as well. I for one will porbably go see the movie as many times as I have from the first two.

I think we should also keep in mind with the series that in terms of the books overall, VTD ( followed by Silver Chair) is the more popular among fans.

really ?? I know a lot of people who hated it ... Well I hated PC book, and the movie was just so great next to it (my opinion) ...

VDT is generally more popular, but Mr Bob is right. Those are 2 lessons they needed to learn, and I fear that they didn't learn the first one well enough. It is still sounding like they'd actually put Trumpkin on the voyage in VDT and I haven't heard fans in favor of that at all. If there are any, it will be a small demographic to say the least. I hoped that they'd learned their lesson from PC in not listening to what the fans want. We'll see. I love Peter Dinklage and I love the character of Trumpkin, but if they put him on that Voyage it will end the series. Not just VDT the movie, but the film series. Ben was right that the fans would think it "sacrilidge." The film would be done before one shot of it was in the can because the fans don't want to see that. Well, at least none of the ones I've talked to...which would be at least a few hundred. Maybe someday I'll list the various responses I got on that subject.

The sad thing is that the series doesn't need to be so threatened. It seems like they're trying to shoot themselves in the foot. But for the life of me I can't figure out why. Really, it's not rocket science to figure this stuff out. Without a solid fan base (which they won't have if they continue to alienate book fans), they won't make any money on it.

Again I will plead along with Mr Bob, Copperfox, BarbarianKing, and several others....Stick to the books!
