Shawnti was making sure things were in order. She was now the sole commander of Cogg’s army… it was a tiring task. That’s when she saw Ribbony. He was a huge dark shadowy figure perched on the wall. Then, leaping down, he landed silently.

The cats and kittens headed for the dungeons, guided by Longbeak.

Mozart squeezed through the bars of her siblings cell and looked in.
“Psst! Dorthy, Toto, Bright! It’s Mozarteeee!”

Dorthy and Toto were up in an instant, followed by Brightheart. They stared at tiny Mozart, standing on the window ledge.
“Where’d you spring from, Mozie?” said Toto softly.
“This ledge. Well where’d you think silly? I climbed in through the window. Now let me at that lock!”

Mozart inserted her small dagger into the lock-hole and picked it with the point. A satisfying ‘click’ was heard when the lock opened. Brightheart pushed the door open, then the four walked out.

And now its time for....

Mozart tough kitten.:p:D

Mozart, who was at the front of the little group, walked up the stairs….
Strait into Shawnti.

“Uh oh….”

"Whats taking them so long?" squeaked Caspian worriedly.
"Maybe da lock was hard tu pick." answered little Frodo, who had come along because of his insistence.
"I guess." mumbled Caspian.

"What ho boys, I hear a camaotioner!"
Caspian stared at Ribbony. "A camaotioner?"
"A racket, young un." replied the gray cat.
"Its Mozart! Lets go!" he ran off with the others hot on his tail.

Mozart had her first real battle then. Sure the fight with Jak had been a kind of battle, but now she was fighting /real/ enemies... ones who showed no mercy.

'Duck, dodge, jump, thrust, parry, catch.' the words echoed through her mind.

Mozart recived a cut over her eye, and a scratch on her front leg. She had given her dagger to Dorthy, and Toto and Bright fought with their claws and teeth.

"The stone, use the stone!" cried the little kitten.

more:

Dorthy caught the meaning of Mozart's words. She slipped on the stone and instantly everything changed.

Dorthy watched the rat she had been fighting bring his sword down on thin air, where she had been nought a moment before. Mozart was now fighting Shawnti herself, and neither was going to give way. For both Shawnti and Mozart were the only ones holding it for their sides, if one of the other gave way the opposing side would triumph.

"Little kit! I'll kill you now!" cried Shawnti.

Mozart's sword flew from her paw. A cut was slashed across her right front paw. She did not seem to notice though. The little cat whipped off her white scarf (which by now had a few red spots in it besides the red lion) and slapped it across Shawnti's face. It gave her the moment she needed to retrive her sword. The formidible kitten held her weapon in her left paw now, and hissed to Shawnti,

"I'm not just some little kit, fuzzface, I'm a warrior kitten. I am Mozart the Meerkitten!"

At the sight of one small enraged kitten, holding a sword in one paw and bleeding in several places, staring at her with intense blue eyes, was too much for Shawnti. The warrior she cat fled from a tiny, warrior, kitten.

Shawnti fled from Mozart the Meerkitten.

Shawnti ran towards the castle. She looked back when she got there, but Mozart had not followed her. Breathing a sigh of relief she sounded the alarm.

"THE PRISONERS ARE ESCAPING!!!"

Mozart heard the shout. She was scrambling down the stairs with her brother sister and Brighheart.

"Get the stone on! Stick your paws through the chain, Dorthy in the middle, Toto and Bright on the sides."
Toto turned to his sister.
"And you Mozart, you are coming aren't you?"

Mozart sighed.
"Didn't you hear that alarm? An entire army will be right on your tails in just moments... Get to where Catlition and the others are hidden. They'll get you the rest of the way out... Tell them not to worry about little Mozart. Now get outta here!" pushing them into some trees, she drew her sword and waited for the first onslaught of evil.

Chapter 14
Gone

Dorthy and the boys stumbled on towards the gate. Tears coursed freely down Dorthy's normally defiant face. Then she made the mistake of looking back.

Choked sobs escaped the young cat's throat. She watched Mozart go under and dissapear in the mobs of Cogg's army.

"C'mon Dorthy, just a little further." said Toto softly.
"Mozart..." Dorthy hung her head and stumbled onward.

Then Toto remebered something he had been told that first night in the prison cell.
'Three of you will escape...'

The three reached the Catlitions and took off the stone.

Caspian's first question:

"Where's Mozart?"
Dorthy's reply was blank and hollow,
"Gone."

Caspian's lametations could be heard by those in Reandalawo all the way from Cogg's fortress.

Mozart fell under the weight of many creatures. She saw stars before her eyes then the she-cat Shawnti, gloating over her. Then the tiny kitten saw no more.

But Mozart was not dead.

Caspian had to be dragged out of Cogg's land. He was gagged because Ribbony was afraid he'd aleart Cogg to their presence. The guards had desereted their posts to help in the fight with one tiny kitten. So it was easy to get out.

When they got back to Reandalawo Caspian was un-gagged and set down by Creamy, who had been carrying him to prevent him from running back to help his sister. The young cat refused to be consoled, by anyone. He was silent and mourned his sister away from the others.

Mozart did not find herself where she thought she would be, though she was not sure where that place was either. She was on a soft bed and nearby a golden-haired tomcat, who looked like he was a few years old, older than Bright and Clancy at least.

"Where did you get your sword?" he asked.
"Mama gave to me." gasped the small cat.

The tomcat turned to her.

"So you are alive. Thats good. Hi Misty! Where did you go boy?"
"Coming papa!" called back another voice, then a white-pawed tom cat- a little older than Bright and Clancy- came holding a towel in one paw and a bowl in the other.

"The little one is awake." said the older tom.
"Goody! Been long time since we had a baby 'round eh papa?"
"Not baby," rasped Mozart, "Warraer."

Misty looked quizical.
"Papa, whats a warraer?"
"War-e-r, warri-or, warrior. Warrior! She's trying to say she's a warrior!"
"Where mama cordial? Is specile."
"Mist go an' get that little bottle she had." Misty didn't hesitate. He came back a moment later with Mozart's cordial in paw. He handed it to the tiny kitten.

Mozart grasped her cordial and smiled. Then she opened it and took a sip. Grinning from ear to tiny ear she jumped out of the bed and spread her paws wide.

"Not a kitten. I'm a warrior! My name is Mozart the Meerkitten!" she cried.
The older tom-cat stared then handed Mozart her sword back, hilt first.

"My name is Jako. This is my grown son Mistyfoot." he said.
Mistyfoot bowed and bobbed his gray head. Mozart saw now Mistyfoot had white paws and white fur on his nose. His chest had a strip along it that looked like a white river.

"Pleased to meet you both."

Chapter 15
Jako's Tale

Mozart took an imedeate liking to the father and son. They looked nothing alike, but they were both friendly and welcoming.

Now that she could see better, Mozart distingushed Jako better. He had dirty golden hair and intense black stripes down his sides, and one down his back. He also seemed to like Mozart particularly well.

Misty was playful, but ever vigilent. He reminded Mozart of her brothers, the way he snuck up on her and Jako.

Jako and Misty had a hut near Cogg's fortress. So when they had heard the commotion caused by Mozart, they came running to help. The got into the fortress much like Ribbony. Find a sizeble tree, climb up to wall-height and jump down 'to earth'. They had rescued Mozart and brought her to their home.

It was the second day since Mozart had woken up in Misty and Jako's hut. Rain pelted down against the windows like hail stones. And Misty was acting like a tiny kit.
"C'mon papa, we wanna story, don't we Mozie?"
"Oh of course Mist, Perfect day for one, eh?"
"Yeah and papa has the greatest stories, right papa?"
"Alright kids, which one y'wanna hear?"
"The one 'bout how Cogg came here."

Jako leaned back in his big chair, as Mozart and Misty watched and listened intently to his tale.

Ooooooooooh! Story!!

LOL story within a story... thats why the chapter is called Jako's tale.;)

more:

"When I was a kit these lands were free from evil. Cogg was the son of a war-wolf who lived far from here, and he and his son were only stories used to frighten little ones.... or so we thought.

I always had a friend though. Her name was Rita. She was a good girl, and when we were old enough we became mates and had this rapscallion you see before you," he indicated to Misty, "By then I had a little brother, named Jaklikeo, or Jak for short." Mozart stared wide eyed, but said nothing.

"Mist and Jak grew up together. My mother died when Jak was little, so Rita and I took him in. He was nought but a youngster-bit older than you Mozart- when Cogg came. Jak and Misty were in the woods together when they saw the army. Smartly the two fled before they were seen. They came to Rita and I and told us. So we up and ran... ran to Reandalawo. Safe-haven for all those good. We hid there for awhile, before...." Jako paused.

BEFORE WHAT??? *cough*

"Before what, Jako?" asked Mozart.
"Before Rita had her next litter of kits. Then we left, because we didn't think it'd be safe for them if Reandalawo was taken. We gave those kits away before they were two weeks old. I do not know how they grew up, or where, but they were safe, and that is all me and Rita wanted for them.
Then about a year or two later, Rita had another litter. We gave those away too. By then Cogg and his father had taken over Reandalawo's sister fortress, Meandrao. The creatures there were made into slaves, including Rita's kit-hood friend, Tori.
Then, not five moons after her last kits were gone, Rita had her final litter. Four kits who would still be no more than babes by now... that was not at all long ago. Rita had high hopes for them. She wanted them to be warriors that could deafeat Cogg and his army. We had never given up kits so young before... I tried to reason with Rita, but she would not budge in her desicion to give them up.
Then going back aways, there was always little Jak and Misty, partners in crime I called them. They stayed at Reandalawo. Jak would be about three years now, not a baby anymore.... Anyway; Jak always sent me letters, sometimes I sent them back. He wanted me to come back, but I didn't. He really loved me, he did. I had never seen such love in any cat nor kitten before as I had seen in Jak.

Then came the final battle. Myself, Rita, Misty and Jak went into it. We were some of the leaders. We lead the troops into a battle that could not be won. Forever more hath I sworn vengence on Cogg from that day on. For he took my love, Rita. I came after him. I fought like a mad-creature. But I could not win with the wolf. He wounded me badly then left me to die. I had told Jak and Misty to lead the remaning troops back to Reandalawo. Misty stayed and sought me out after the battle. He found me and brought me here... to the place I grew up in, and he grew up in. I do not know what happened to Jak, or Rita, but I have sworn to get them back one day." here Jako stopped and did not go on.

"Never heard that version before." Misty whispered to Mozart. But the little kitten was not listening. She turned to Jako then spoke.

"Then I will take you to Reandalawo. For there your brother abides."
Jako stared at her, holding her gaze for a moment then said,
"Let us go then. I will not wait. Take me to Jak now."
