Who Do You Want To Be The Voice Of Aslan?/ Brian Cox is the voice of Aslan!!!

That would be a fantastic voice for Alsan. Very similar to Christopher Lee. Powerful yet majestic.

What about that Brit pop-rocker Sting? He would be good for Aslan with his strong, moving, dramatic voice. Anyone agree? :)

in my opinion aslan's voice is the most important thing in the whole movie.

it should make you shudder in your seat and the cinema should quake, but somehow it should be gentle at the same time.

i think it's disney's most difficult task.

Thanks, Y. Fish! Anyway, I love his music, too. I think we might have something in common. I knew this day would come. :D

Christopher Lee has a wonderful voice, as does John Rhys-Davies - but I think they are too well known by their voice. If I heard John Rhys-Davies play the part, I think I might recognize him right off and it would distract me a bit from the film itself. I don't want to put down on any of them - I agree that they are wonderful actors. I also think that the person who does play the role should have (as some of you have pointed out) a deep, heavy, but also friendly voice. Have any of you heard Focus on the Family Radio Theatre's radio dramas? The voice of Aslan is pretty nice for that - I think he could do a fine job, do any of you have thoughts on that?

What do you think about Morgan Freeman? He is also very well known - maybe he's not right for the part. Any comments?

Alan Rickman... he's... Snape and the english guy in Galxy Quest, right? Yeah, he'd be great! :) And Sean Connery would be okay as Aslan... personally, I don't think the voices quite match, but he'd be better than most.

Note about Stephen Thorne: To anyone who has heard the BBC Radio adaptations of Narnia, Stephen Thorne voiced Aslan there in all 7 volumes as well.

When I originally thought about it, before going to any sites, I said Christopher Lee. I still haven't changed my mind on that.....yet. :D

I was thinking of James Earl Jones too. Darth Vader, Mufasa, the CNN guy... who else sounds more god-like? Morgan Freeman also crossed my mind but his voice is too "American". That can be a good thing but definitely doesn't suit Aslan. As for Sean Connery, I simply find his voice annoying. Don't ask why, I just do. Besides its very distinct and easily recognizable. I still think James Earl Jones would be perfect.

Since some news reporters are acting a little, like Katie Couric, maybe CNN anchor Anderson Cooper (my future hubby) can be the voice of Aslan. If you heard him, his voice is soooooooo serious and deeper. Wouldn't it be cool? Maybe a good idea, but wanna know what you wanna say about this idea. That's all.

Mel Gibson is my thought. Has very underrated vocal talent IMHO.
Christopher Lee would be great of course, Ian McKellen also, but they are too recongizable. Same goes (and even more so) for James Earl Jones and Sean Connery.

I guess it depends on wether the filmmakers want Aslan to have a British accent. B)

I love Alan Rickman and Lawrence Fishburne also but I don't think they would fit the bill. How about David Bowie?

Wow, never thought of Mel Gibson. That might not be too bad. If you closed your eyes, you might think it's William Wallace leading men to battle, instead of a great Lion.

My choices (in order):

1: James Earl Jones. --- The first one that comes to mind, and probably the best one.

2: Christopher Lee. --- Wonderful voice.

3: John Rhys-Davies. --- Very powerful voice, good dramatic range.

On the other hand, he was almost unrecognizable when playing Treebeard. I'm not sure if it was modified with a computer, or what. But his voice was disguised pretty well.

4: Patrick Stewart. --- He has a great voice, and good range, from majestic and authoritative to quieter and more emotional. On the other hand, maybe not deep and booming enough?

5: Ian McKellen. --- Great voice. Could do a very good job, but his voice is probably too recognizable nowadays.

6: Morgan Freeman. --- Good deep voice. But possibly not bombastic enough.

Sean Connery could be good (he has that appropriate growly quality) however the problem is that he has a very distinctive and recognizable voice--even more so than any of the others on my list. It would distract the audience from the performance.

Come to think of it, most of these are quite recognizable, so it will probably be a more obscure actor or a total unknown.

Hmm, all too true. I'm just praying that whoever gets the part will amaze me,(which, I might add, is hard to do). ;)

(Oh yeah, heh heh, welcome Valin Kenobi, I like your mumakil avitar).

Oh my goodness i have SUCH a major crush on Anderson! I saw him in the mole and yea he's hot but i don't know if he'd be too good as Aslan. Hmm now that i think about it tho it might be cool. Oh Alan Rickman as puddleglum all the way! That'd be brilliant ^_^ I think though that the guy from the BBC movies should do it. He did such a good job the first time i mean, i loved him i cried when the white witch killed him...

Oh, Nienna! Me, too! Well, maybe not for Aslan as what we both thought. Well, just wanna take some kind of test, but still I did good, anyway. :)
