Who Do You Want To Be The Voice Of Aslan?/ Brian Cox is the voice of Aslan!!!

Welcome Cymrugirl, Evenstar, and Cinnamoroll! (I know you've been around for awhile already, but I thought I'd welcome you anyway since I've been around awhile but left for a little.) As you can see, our forums are anything but dead! ;)

thank you for you welcome message its very kind of you ! :) yepp, its not a busy forum here, but in that case there is nothing i can miss ;o)

hmm, Viggo Mortensen is an interesting idea. He does have a good soft quality I can see coming out as a lion. It's just that his commanding voice (like in Lord of the Rings, whenever he is shouting to soldiers) doesn't strike me as deep and growly enough. Of course, as an actor he may be able to overcome that.

Russell Crowe's a good choice as well. He has a good commanding tone and an overall pleasant voice. I think Crowe could pull it off fantastically if he had to. But then, like you said, Cymru, that'd be half the budget there.

You're welcome, Cinnamorroll!
(I like your sn and avatar, btw.)
And hi to Dragon, too! I can't remember if I've welcomed you yet or not...

I'm not sure if Mortensen can overcome the rather un-deep pitch of his "commanding voice," though, because I think if he could have he would have done it as Aragorn. The rather nasal twang of his voice always bothered me a little, but he was such a good Aragorn otherwise that I didn't mind too much. ;) But no, I don't think I want him as Aslan. Russel Crowe would be awesome, I admit, but not too likely.
Now I can't even remember who I originally wanted to be the voice of Aslan, after reading so many suggestions!

... you know its getting to the point where I don't really care who they cast as the voice, as long as they cast someone and let us know who it is!!!
PLEEEEEEASE!!!!

Thanks for the welcome, fae. :) I had the same thoughts that you had mentioned so you saved me time writing them.

I agree also that it's about time we find out who does the voice and almost don't care, .....but while we're spouting ideas, I think Ron Perlman (this years' "Hellboy") has a great Lionish voice.

Never saw the movie, but from the "Hellboy" commercials he seems like a good pick.

This is kind of a funny thread, because while I was at camp I was in the camp play (The Lion King) trying my hardest to imitate a lion's voice. Trust me, it isn't easy!

Wouldn't the voice depend on how you wnat Alsan to be portrayed? (obviously, sillyness!) Is he going to be the wise, all knowing father figure, or the more warrior like protector of his country? Joined this a bit late so haven't read all the posts yet (very lazy sorry), John Ryhs Davis is an interesting idea, Aslan comes form Wales - great ! Christopher Lee - sounds abit too fond of the JackD and Marlboros to me now! Now Ian Macellan (wrong spelling i thnk), he has the best voice in the world!

Come on!

I will admit that the 3 you picked out where very good lee, jones, davies,
but SEAN CONNERY!!!!!!!!
ok maybe I just like him as a actor so maybe I dont count.

Sean Connery! Nooooo! Please don't be offended if I say that his voice is just soo not right - the comical highland/american mix - no thanks! Sir Ian still gets my vote, I may have to start a campaign!
