Who Do You Want To Be The Voice Of Aslan?/ Brian Cox is the voice of Aslan!!!

I am new and I agree with you guys although my fav. would have to be Christropher Lee. His voice would be great for Aslan. :)

2 guys:

1.) Miachael Dorn (from Star Trek: The Next Generation): he played Worf, the Chief of Security on the Enterprise. his voice is nice and deep. and i have heard him growl :D

2.) Dennis Haysbert (from 24): now this guy not only have the most naturally deep and resounding voice you've ever heard (since James Earl Jones hit the scene), but he can sing too! his voice also has the quality that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy if he's being nice to absolutely loud and terrifying when he wants to scare the bejeebers out of someone. perfect for Aslan :)

They would need to get a guy who can sing for MN. Unless they changed around the creation of Narnia scene so that Aslan didn't have to sing... but then I think I would boycott Walden.

Me like. :D

There are many possiblities for Aslan, everyone has named some great voices. Personally, I wouldnt mind someone well known doing the voice, and tho I first chose Sean Connery, I wouldnt mind hearing James Earl Jones doing it either.

(sorry if this is off thread)

but what about Orlando Bloom as the older Prince Caspian?

I to like those choices! And as to christopher lees age, yes he is old but that doesn't seem to be stopping him. He has just done star wars episode three and still has pick ups to shoot for that. I think doing voice acting would be better for a man his age then playing a sith Lord! :D I like James earl Jones but he is darth vader and always will be. It would be weird to have him playing the ultimate good character in a movie when he has played the ultimate bad guy in a movie ever! :)

I'd love any of the following as Aslan, I think:

James Earl Jones (assuming he can do a British accent. I'm sorry, I don't think Aslan would sound right unless he was British)

Rupert Everett (except it doesn't seem likely if he's already doing the voice of the Fox)

Christopher Lee maybe (I have a hard time picturing this since I'm so used to seeing him play absolute evil)

Jeremy Irons (because, my soul, does that man ever have a beautiful voice. I have an old tape of him narrating The Steadfast Tin Soldier and it's just amazing)

I will never ever, ever go along with Alan Rickman as either Aslan OR Puddleglum, because Alan's voice turns me into a rather large puddle of goo every time I hear it. I just can't end up being attracted to Puddleglum. I. Just. Can't. (they should totally get Dr. Who from the BBC version to reprise that role. He was all kinds of awesome as the Marshwiggle) And as far as Aslan goes, I'd give myself nightmares if I ever started to develop a crush on him because of the voice playing him. That's just wrong.

A very interesting idea... B)

Anyway, I think you guys have all come up with excellent ideas for the voice of Aslan, albeit I've never heard of some of them before. Just from your descriptions I'm sure one of these guys would be perfect. If any of them actually do end up doing Aslan, the person who mentioned them here should get a prize! ;)

I would die if sean connery did the voice of Aslan. I cannot stand his voice. I just can't. It's nothing like i imagine Aslan's voice to be. At all. Period. Also i don't think Aslan really has an accent...he's kind of just talks without any kind of inflection or whatever. i dunno, what d'you all think? Ooh and i think there'll be lots of hot guys *yes u can all shoot me now* but honestly, prince caspian, peter, edmund, diggory, eustace (who i imagine gets more attractive after he stops acting like such a prig)

Very good idea, Fishy!
Um, how can anyone have no accent, Nienna? I think everyone has some sort of accent... but that may just be my opinion...

Well i guess it wouldn't be that they had no accent it would just be a mixture of everything so it wouldn't be an accent. Well maybe a lion accent...lol j/k i don't really know what Aslan would sound like and i guess it's silly to say without an accent but i don't see him with a british accent...

Okay, I think I see what you're saying, sorry. ;)
I'm still not sure if that's humanly possible, though, but I guess we'll see. I can't wait! (Although I obviously am going to have to...)

I like Anthony Hopkins voice too, he has a nice calming tone. I do like the idea of sean connery also, and maybe Ian Mckellan. Guess we will just have to wait and see.

Anthony Hopkins would be great! If he were narrator, even. It'd be awesome.

Hi all!

I'm new to the board. I tried to start this same thread on another board because I think it's so key to the success of the film - but the boards were dead. So glad I found this one. You have all come up with fab ideas - I love the idea of Alan Rickman as Puddlegum - LOVE IT. But I do agree with firefly - that man's voice turns me inside out too - of course, I don't think it did that in Galaxy Quest.

My picks (which will never happen) because they can be growly, powerful, and gentle are:

Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn from LOTR)- he sometimes sounds like he's purring when he talks

Russell Crowe - He definitely has the power and flux to do Aslan well - he would just cost half the budget!

I would enjoy seeing Dakota Fanning in one of these films - I had hoped the little girl who starred in Peter Pan as Wendy might end up as Susan, but the girl who was chosen looks lovely. I also think Billy Boyd (Pippin in LOTR) or Dominic Monhagen(sp?) (Merry in LOTR) would have made a good Tumnus - but who would want to graduate from a Hobbit to a faun?
