As a movie buff from way back, I am all too aware of the horrors that are sometimes perpetrated when books are adapted for film (and let's not even TALK about the distortions in biographies and docudramas!) Because I cherish the writings of C.S. Lewis, I have been very apprehensive about the changes that might be made in adapting the Narnia Chronicles. I was incredibly relieved, therefore, to find that it is really quite incredibly faithful to the book (Yes, we can all make a list of the changes, but we should instead be thankful for the accuracies!) It is also a visually beautiful film, and the acting is excellent. I think we can count on it to bring a lot of new readers to the Narnia chronicles, and, who knows, maybe even to other Lewis books.
