Being in my early 40s,I have had a long-term vision of how Narnia looked since first reading the chronicles aged 5.I was actually nervous at the way the book would be interpreted on the big screen. I was not let-down overall,and was actually moved to tears a couple of times when being returned to 5 years old is so much more innocent back in the late 60s than in this modern age.
I've read the chronicles many times; been to the grave many times,and even have a tattoo of Aslan stepping triumphantly down from Cair Paravel.
The Directors interpretation is almost immaculate.I am so pleased that the books will arise again in the 21st Century,but am worried that most will just go to see the lastest must-see movie.READ THE BOOKS! USE YOUR OWN IMAGINATION! It can never be better than when you are a child and believe the Pevensey's look a certain way;or Mr Tumnus and Aslan look as drawn by Pauline Baynes.
Anyway,the film.Perfect.Better than any of the previous incarnations although some of the landscape backdrops look as though they were cut back to keep within budget.
The actors were excellent,with all 4 children growing on you throughout the 2+ hours,best of all was the White Witch,whom I visualised as more violent,yet found her inappropriately someone I'd like to share turkish delight with( must be my age)!
The religious connatations were strong if you know the background to not only the chronicles but The Good Book itself.
Looking forward to further interpretations of the chronicles but unsure how they'll work with different actors as the Pevenseys.
