Unfortunately, films like the Lord of the Rings have brought a new standard to this genre. This film would have seemed less pedestrian had it been released before the LoTRs.
And what's up with Thomas' ears? It would have been more believable if they moved a bit or were influenced by gravity in some way.
That said, it's a simpler film of a simpler story. A bit too bright and Disney-like but a good one none-the-less.
